I live in Midwest USA, the Bible belt. My family are extremely religious and biased against any 'sinful' activity. There have been a lot of questions raised from my family and friends of why I am actually going to BKK in AUG (04). They ask, "Did you know about all the sex tourism over there? I would do some reserach on the Internet and printout all the articles about the child molestation, court settlements, cover ups and sex happening within the Catholic Institution and hand it to them for bathroom reading. Based upon all these facts, tell them that you lost faith in Christianity and have decided to convert to Budism and are traveling to Thailand to experience your new religion at the holy throne.

Being honest is good, but can hurt and/or alarm people that care about you. Jokingly, it has been said excuses of being on a mission from god etc could help. But the point is excuses can be found. And the conservative nature of mid west america, and your folks (think inheritance also) might require that some effort into reasons for going are met. Tj confronts his elderly mother with the shocking truth, but his brave in your face reality, might not be for you. You might consider, at least on your return, having as bkkz suggested a kit of at least the places you went to, and a few churches that offer christian prayer. Say ""you felt closer to the kingdom of heaven it seemed"" ( and think about all the sweet pussy and smile when you recall it while saying it). At the end of the day, most western societies, percieve the place in the worst possible light, and it really is far from the truth. Alot of ( ironically) my most spirtual experiences, have come from riding say a motor bike in the countryside of thailand and bedding down under the stars. Or watching a sunset with a girl you have strong feelings for, and getting the essence of her heartfelt love back. Thailand is a discovery you need to make, sure f_ck people who think the world is flat, and jesus christ was some western style guy that their pictures in their churches of him protray.
