That's up to you mate, but mansaturday's thread titled 'How to impress/be nice guy' suggests that he is interested in being just that. When somebody starts a thread titled "I want to find a girl who parties like it's 1999", I'll keep my sticky beak out.

I'd rather she prefered me for whatever reason's going to get me the better bang, I've always found it's the cute, friendly guy routine that works for me. What you've got to remember is that we're playing a game of appearances. She'll pretend she loves you, you'll pretend you don't just want to screw her senseless. I've no intention of marrying her, falling for her or sending her money from farangland, but she can think whatever she likes as long as it makes her better in bed.
Horses for courses? Well said, but we're all running the same course. It's the "Best Bang Steeplechase" and I'd rather have a ride that's into being ridden me than one that's willing to throw me in a ditch.

You make some very good points, and I have to agree with you on all of them - except that I *do* think that we are looking for different things. If a BG gave me the greatests sex ever then spent the rest of the time being cloyingly emotionally attached I would just start retching. But, as you so validly point out, that is neither here nor there and I could have done worse than restrict my comments to those about smelling good etc.

Something that occurred to me is that there is one thing all the Thai girls I have known, whether bargirls or not, have respected.

IMHO this is not a problem, don't drop this idea for the reason you give.
You can get a lot of mileage out of just trying to learn a few phrases and having the BGs teach you a little.
You don't even have to succeed at learning anything.
Get a phrase book, try to learn a few Thai phrases, teach a few English/German/whatever phrases, have a few laughs.
One of the most fun times I had in BKK was having a bunch of BGs teach me to count to ten in Thai on my first trip.
This is also a great gesture of goodwill to all Thai people.
I had a restaurant owner tell me that he had falang customers that had been coming to BKK for years and had never learned a single word of Thai, and that he appreciated that I made the effort to try and learn.
My Thai skills suck of course, but I have really had a lot of fun and met some nice people by trying to use the language a little.
Don't try and learn anything before you go, just buy a small phrasebook (Lonely planet Thai phrase book is $8) and open it when you get your first beer in a bar in Thailand.

Get 'Thai for Lovers' for your mobile phone. If you have a Nokia, it's a REALLY cool addition, as it not only shows you the key phrases, but can speak them to/for you as well.
It's helped me a tremendous deal. Oh yeah, and you can also find a phrase, and then send it as an sms.
$29 or so, but well worth it.

So long as you understand that the BG's often use slang and have a less than complete understanding of their own language. A couple of sessions learning Bargirl Thai and any other Thai will know where you've been spending your nights. Bang go all those chances with the office workers.

What will impress a bar girl the most is if you tell her you live in BKK, and know the deal. Plenty of P4P girls are just out looking for the tourist with rose colored glasses on. These are the guys they are going to really milk for money, no matter how sweet they come accross.
If you actually think that you better then, or more gifted then the other few hundred wankers a bar girl has dealt with, you are kidding yourself. Most of them have seen it all.
