Thx, about the names of the steets. - Soi means street I think, and Soi is often followed by a number, so I guess that soi 22 is the name of a steet. But as my eksampel below shows the street is also called something else. Do steets have more than one name?
Eg
147-149 Sukhumvit Road, Soi 22 Prakanong
I am trying to find out the location of this:
2802 New Petchburi Road, Bangkapi, Bangkok 10320
but I cannot find it anywhere. Does someone know how much time such a trip from the heart of BKK to this adress will take!

Most of the Sois do have their own name, but it is rare that people use them or even know them (except for the big ones like Asoke, Thonglor, Ekkamai, ...).
When you see Bangkapi, Prakanong, ... after the street address it is just the district of Bangkok, I believe.
Looking for the Morakot Hotel? I don't know for sure, but I would guess that since 2802 is a pretty low number it is very close to Asoke (Soi 21) and thus not far from the heart of bkk. I used to know a website that would map a random address in Bkk, but I can't find it anymore.

In Bangkok you have main roads i.e. Sukhumvit and New Petchburi road.
These have smaller streets coming off them. A bit like the body of an insect being the main road and the soi's are like it's legs.
Am I talking bolloks here?
Anyway soi are all numbered with odd numbers on one side even on the other.
Therefore if you are looking for soi 17 and you are standing by soi 4 you need to cross over and walk towards the higher numbered soi's
New Petchaburi road runs parallel to sukhumvit and is in central Bangkok.
I believe there are a lot of massage parlours there although this is not my thing so I could be wrong.

Greg had a good answer to your question but I'll break it down a bit further here, using your first address as an example. Sukhumvit is a "thanon", or primary street. Soi 22 is a secondary street (technically an alley?) that runs off of Sukhumvit road. I think the numbers in the front is the address of the location on the secondary street. Prakanong is the district. I've often had trouble locating the street numbers, so it's better if you get a name of an establishment, or some landmark that you are looking for.
Should also point out that there is no "heart of Bangkok". Heart is where the home is. Or said another way, wherever you are in Bangkok is the "heart". BKK is a many faceted beast. New Petchburi road is another main road that you may be quite close to.

Chompoo and Greg are correct in their descriptions of Soi's. I believe a better translation than street is "alley" or "lane". Prakanong is the district. The place you are looking for is going to be on Sukhumvit Soi 22 which is that numbered Lane off of the main Street of Sukhumvit. It may be on that lane (22) itself or off an additional side-lane off of that lane. The 147-149 is not really like an address in the states for example, like 240 Main Street where the numbers all follow in order. It is actually, I believe, something more akin to a lot number. So like numbers may or may not be around each other or in ascending or descending order. You will have to do a little hunting. That is why it is good to have a cross Soi reference, like Sukhumvit Soi 22 and the nearest numbered Soi is usually given so that you have some idea of where it is. The New Petchburi road address is a problem. Unless because it is a major road it is different than the rest of bkk, the 2802 number will be pretty much meaningless to a taxi driver (not that one might not offer to take you there and drop you off any old place). It would be better if you had a numbered Soi reference or just described to someone what the building is. I am not sure but I believe the Bangkapi district designation means it will be a ways out from central bkk.

ok, curiosity got the better of me. If you are looking for the Morakot --- It is on new petchburi b/n Soi Soonvijai and Ekamai (which is also Sukhumvit Soi 65?). So I guess you aren't that far out after all, but not in the thick of things.

If I can't understand an adress by now, I certenly never will (bad structure I know).
The reason I asked is that I red this:

Out of the way but a pretty nice hotel with A/C, TV, phone and bathroom. This hotel had signs all over the floors advertising full body massages, and clearly operated a brothel on the premises. There is also a disco, and a 24-hour cafe. Guest friendly. Air-conditioned rooms around 350 - 450 baht.
I have highlighted the "out of the way" thing, and was wondering how much out of the way it is! Sounds like a very cheap place worth of tjecking out. And if the rooms are nice it could be a nice place to crash a night. And if the girls are pretty too, then perhaps 2 nights!

When a Hotel is marked as being guest freindly, does this mean that they don't care that you bring home girls or does it mean that the staff is freindly towards guests (thats me).
The writer often writes "I would be very surprised if any small hotel in this area were guest unfriendly", and uses the "no guest problem" also.
