Balls - "Does looking bad help?"

Actually, that's not so funny.  In an actual relationship it maybe does help.  My girlfriend will tell me she loves me and I ask her why saying that I'm ugly and she says, "I know, I like, you no butterfly."

I guess you win some and you lose some.  ;)

BoomARang,

Guess we're in good company. Many years ago, on the second date I had with my Korean g/f (who would live with me for the next 10 years), I decided to do some mountain climbing. As we started up the trail, the conversation turned to appearances. She was very pretty (and good hearted) and when I asked her if she thought I was handsome, she said without malice, and quite factually and simply, "No." I, and my punctured ego, thought about that for a while before I framed my next topic of discussion. Who says asian ladies aren't honest?

Balls - This isn't just with Thai women as I don't think Thai women are any different than any other women in the world when it comes to honesty but I really started to trust my girlfriends after I realized that she was very good at telling me things I DIDN'T want to hear!  ;)

The biggest problem is that most women, no matter where in the world, wait until AFTER there's a ring on their finger and a Mrs. in front of their name before one starts hearing truer feelings and words coming out.

I would be interested to see and contribute to the thread you are thinking of, but of course I'll let you start it off.  Considering other somewhat related threads, it could be very interesting indeed!

nokna
quote from New Guy.

'I am also surprised to see how strongly people react to my sig. It is a political/social statement in support for women all over the world, and has nothing what so ever to do with being negative about the black people. It was to my knowledge first uttered by the late John Lennon. It is also indirectly a criticism of racism.'

i posted that it was the title of a John Lennon song.
in no way was it meant to be disrespectful to any coloured person or to women.

it was written in the 60's at a time when the race issue was the top news in the USA.
time of riots, marches and the rise of Martin Luther King.

it was also the time of women's liberation in the UK and Lennon was comparing the way that women and non whites were being  treated.
he thought the issues were similar and thought that women were being treated the same way as non whites.

Lennon was in his political phase when he wrote it.

i think New Guys choice for a signature is maybe a little unfortunate and maybe a bit of naviety crept in.
i can understand that people might think he is racist, but i would give him the benefit of the doubt.

i try not to label people until i know for sure what their stance is.
so in this case i would tell him to change the signature, just to avoid the kinda posts we have seen in the last day or so.

I, unlike a few others, think that words, and discussion of controversial subjects is actually good for us as a whole. And I recognized NewGuy's sig as a (non-attributed) lifting of Lennon's song title.

BTW, it was NOT written in the '60s, Nokna, and Dr. King was assassinated in April 1968. Lennon, and his folie-a-deux partner, Yoko Ono, in a fit of conspicuous consciousness-raising, released the song in 1972.

(What do you do, Nokna, make this shit up as you go along? Read the thread, followed by some history, if you please...)

Like Lennon, or dispise him, it makes no difference.

NewGuy opened with a completely ridiculous and uncalled for manifesto, and has since demonstrated his lack of maturity in spades.

f_ck the punk.

Arcadius, I also suspected NewGuy may be female (No problem).  The looking good is a type of question a women would ask.

NewGuy, By removing the offensive signature would resolve the problem.  Please be considerate of others.  Peace

Looks do not count for much in a business relationship with a prostitute, but I have heard from the girls that a good heart does (kind, polite et.). And of course, all this is valid only if your wallet is thick enough

(Being a pretty thick-skinned male, I don't mind the occasional roughing-up, but I hope some of the more aggressive of the lot will chill. This is a forum for discussion, not a battle arena)

Humbly yours
