haam sup, your posts of the effects of the internet are too true. I can see how it is good for Mr. Stickbkbkbkbk as he comes here and has a good handle on things, or at least should.
But I just see so much of the adventure in travel gone. With the internet and good earth and google, it is so easy to find out about so much that it doesn't leave enough room for adventure. Sure people will feel a sense of adventure when the get on a bus for the first time, or take a tuk tuk for the first time, but its not really an adventure, its too controlled.
Mr Quim posted something about going over to the japanese section by patpong in order to go somewhere new. I started to make a post but then quit, and went to bed. But you know what I thought Mr. Quim should do was to go to Lahan Sai, a town in Buriram. I'm going back there on my next trip as it was just the weirdest place, and there was some wild shit going on, and some of the girls were just incredible.
I think people just need to break loose of what they know and and can read about and and just go to some off beat place they know nothing about and work things out on the fly. Sure it is in Thailand so there isn't any breaking of new ground, but at least there isn't a zillion pages on the internet devoted to it.
And if Lahan Sai is to far, Phenom Sarakham isn't and its a pretty fun place also.

BFH, your points are well taken. I love off the beaten track too.
And yet, pressed for time, I find myself all too often returning to the known and, more or less, guaranteed. Lahan Sai and Phenom Sarakham are both excellent suggestions. Notes taken.
I am also thinking about a return visit to Chiang Mai, where I have not been since 2002. I am curious how it has or has not changed. And of course, it has some special offerings that are not to be missed. I just need to figure out my time.
I also agree that the internet is a boon and a curse. Too many good things are ruined by everyone knowing about them. But then I might not have known about them without it. So I am conflicted.
Truth be told, I do not tell everything here, wanting to preserve some things, and some girls, for me, or for at least fewer than otherwise. To the extent that that is possible. In that, I am not unlike many members here. We take in all we can, but give cautiously, as it should be.
