Go to your hotel and drop off your gear. Go to a Spa and get rid of that jet lag, 2 to 3 hours off bliss and you are ready to enter the eclectic city of Bangkok....
Where is your hotel, can maybe advise a place within walking distance.

When that happened to me and I was to stay at 5* or 4+* hotel, I would tell them no problem that I would happily wait in the lobby.

I would then sit there and over a few minutes I would find myself stretching and falling down towards an almost horizontal position. I would then pretend to be sleep.

Or course such a snobish hotel would not like to have someone sleeping in the lobby. By some magic, somebody would then come whithin 30 minutes and wake me up saying that my room was ready.

At a 4-* or 3* hotel you better do as Manuel says.

Good one smegma...

MM,
The big problem is your luggage, if you were travelling light, was prepared to hump it around a few hotels and it is not high season.

First I would go to hotel of first choice, check room availability & price, you may be offered a room straight away or maybe told you will have to wait until afternoon.

Because you have walked in off the street instead of booking they probably will offer you a room straight away else plan two, make it clear that you are not prepared to wait, but keep your option open so if the other hotels down the road can not find you a room you can come back to them, pick up your bags head for the street, I bet before you get out the door the receptionist will be running after you to tell you they have found a vacated room and it will be ready as soon as the maid has finished cleaning it, else head for hotel #2 and so on.

If you have booked, and these days it is not easy to make a reservation without paying in advance they will have your money and you will have a receipt and on it will be; “The check-in time is 14:00 hrs and check-out time is 12:00 noon, Please be aware of these strict check-in and check-out policies” or similar statement, tough luck, you will have no option but to wait.

Though my problem is the late check-out, most times I have left LOS the flights are always between 23:00 & 03:30Hrs this means obtaining a late check-out, some times I get for nothing but then I must be out of the room before the maid goes off duty normally about 18:00hrs, other times I have to pay something extra or even pay for an extra night.

But even paying for an extra night to be able to use a room up until it is time to depart for the airport is well worth it.

My suggestion would be go to your hotel, ask them to store your luggage for you until your check-in time, then go to starbucks for a coffee, chat up some chicks.

Then I would go to a soapie or an oily for a couple of hours then I would go to a beer bar like soi 7 beergarden and have a few beers and maybe pick up a freelancer.

By this time it may be time to check-in with a nice TG in toe.

Drop your stuff at the hotel. They will hold onto it until your room is ready. Walk around Nana Plaza, down Sukhumvit to Soi Cowboy, and see how the place is set up. If you don't like the weather, go to a mall. Most of them are right next to each other.
