I plan on buying a small motorbike in a couple of weeks.It will be left outside my apartment in BKK.There's no security here;it will just be parked with a load of other cycles which share the same apartment block.
Is bike theft rife in BKK ?
Do I need to buy a Doberman?

No, dont be silly! Get your self a Great Dane or an Irish Wolfhound, they have much broader shoulders. 
You will probably fall off a Doberman on your way back from the pub...

Stolen ? maybe depends on make and security where it is and where you go plus good common sense not loan it and remembering where you parked when drunk.
Many bikes all look the same make sure you can distinguish it from others and get insurance.
Pattaya has some wild $$$ choppers that I know cost mucho to build.
Heck after the tsunamis get a BMW enduro or similar.

How about asking some of the owners of the other bikes?
Do you intend to at least secure it, or will you just be posting a big 'steal me' sign on it?
