Hello All,
As someone who has been to Bangkok just once recently and loved it, I'm considering spending a week in Pattaya.
In Bangkok, some people will tell you that the girls in Pattaya are "nicer" (e.g. more attractive) --although I liked many of the Bangkok girls-- and that they prefer the Pattaya environment over Bangkok.
However, in looking through some of these threads, some people seem to regard Pattaya as "dirt and dust", and not worth spending alot of time in.
So, your opinions, thoughts:
1) How does Pattaya compare to Bangkok? Feel free to compare on any quality/parameter that you'd like
2) Is there a third place in Thailand that for girls, entertainment, environment, that you'd recommend over either?
Hard questions I know--so thank you for your thoughts!

I've had good times in both. I like Pattaya better. Less air pollution usually a couple of degrees cooler. Hotels are cheaper and the beer bar BG are good to go for 500 ST & 1K LT. Easier to get around Pattaya. Good hotels in the 800 to 1K range.

If you are a hi-so urbane type who cannot be without his sport coat, Pattaya may not be for you.
But if you like the sandy, casual, beach type atmosphere then you should take to P very well.
In my opinion it is a must see at least once for a minimum of 3-5 days. Why ? Because there are so many ladies there it boggles the mind. Try to imagine nothing but beer bars and gogo's from NEP Soi 4 in Bangkok all the way to Soi Cowboy. Then up the side Soi's too. Now double that and you have an idea of the wall to wall pussy that awaits you.
IMHO, mining the beer bars and the hunt for that hidden gem is one of the great joys in life here in LOS.
P is only a 1000B/2 hour taxi ride down from Bkk or 100B if you take the bus from the terminal at the Ekamai BTS stop. No excuse to miss it.
Don't miss it.

Some ppl prefer Pattaya
Some ppl like me like both.
Check it out and decide for yourself.
I will say that things are slightly cheaper in PTY than BKK as far as food, fun, and hotels, and it is a tad bit more laid back...but Pattaya, like Bangkok, is still fun city but in a beachish kind of way. And temperature wise it is slightly nicer with the breeze coming off the sea.

Thanks for the question. Was wondering the same thing myself. Asked my friends, but they all disagree with each other. Tried searching the internet (Google search) and found that a lot of bars, both in Bangkok and Pattaya, have their own websites with pictures of their girls. Both were equally depressing, however. I don't think these websites do their girls justice, as I know there were a lot of pretty girls in Bangkok.
One thing I did notice is that there seemed to be less of the "other" stuff to do in Pattaya (e.g., less temples, shopping malls, outdoor markets, etc.), at least by looking at the map (and I'm not a golfer, thank god). I still didn't catch everything I wanted to in Bangkok. Maybe my 3rd trip will be Pattaya.

There are the euphemisms again. In an earlier post, I gave the “sandy” fraternity (of Patong, same same) a slightly different description:
"You cannot imagine the kind of despicable mob that roams the streets there. BKK is a city of 10 million +/-. Pattaya is a much smaller city and it's a beach resort. Check out http://www.pattayatalk.com Lot's of pretty women in Pattaya.

Even though Bangkok's a very big city and Pattaya isn't, Pattaya is much more "in your face".
If you're okay with that, then Pattaya's the place to be, I guess. It's certainly cheaper than Bangkok and wall-to-wall pussy. But if you're more laid back then Bangkok is better.
I broke my finger in Pattaya (my 1st day in LOS) so, as far as I'm concerned, the place in cursed! But that's just me.
