OK Boys,

I was speaking to my TGF in Busstop Bar which is just down about 500 meters from Nana Plaza. I can tell you for sure that the Busstop Bar is going to close in Sept and be moved back within the block to accomodate a new building. Now...here's where I got confused with her broken English......Is the whole Nana area going to be closed for remodeling?? Or is is just the area near Busstop Bar???
Any of you local Bros that have contacts and know the area better then me, please advise as this will be helpful information for all who are planning a trip there!
Thanks for your assistance and the clarification!

cheers,

Richie H

So you reckon they'll be closin' bars and creatin' upheaval just at the start of the busy season? Yep, sounds 'bout right.

Last time they closed a go-go bar area for 'reconstruction' was Clinton Plaza and we know what happened there...

Sounds right to me. Hillary Bar - there in the Raja car park moved (back up toward Jool's). Alledgedly to make way for some new construction. Not likely to affect Ball in Hand or Sin though. Hillary is near Bus Stop.

Be cool to see the wreckers ball take out the Raja. Bye Annie's Put the Nana Hotel on the "to do" list.

Now I have no idea how true this is but I was talking to a guy in a bar today. Seems to be ok in the head and he was going on about the land owner's of NANA plaza area, he said its owned by the same people that own the Land Mark Hotel or the mand it is built on, which he said is part of the Royal Family here and the land on NANA plaza is due for renewual in 2 to 3 years and they are going to smash it all down to make way for something else not gogo bars.

This is not from me and this is not me saying I belive him just food for thought.

Who's buying the beers

Maybe the Thai Royal Family owns the land but the Landmark hotel itself is managed by Summit Hotels. This is an international chain that also runs the Garden Hotel in GuangZhou.

Maybe your source should be vetted first....

BTW: You are buying the beers!

The main lease on the land where the plaza is is running for another 5 years and approx 6 months. Some of the bars have lease agreements until that time, most have a lease which expires in 2 years and 6 months. Those leases will be up for a renewal of 3 years at that time.
What will happen when the main lease is over??? Nobody knows.

It sounds a bit strange to hear that the Crown Property bureau is owning this land. A rumour a while back said that it was sold to the wife of a well known politician / businessman. Also it has been said that plans for a shopping mall at this area are in existence. Let's se in 6 years..

This scenario is very different for Soi Cowboy as all shophouses are individually owned which makes it more unlikely that it will dissapear. Also leases at SC are running well over 10 years for some bars.

correct.

whoever owned the land at that time (crown) leased it to some indian-thai businessmen.

according to that lease there are about 7 years and 6 months left.

if crown sold the land to mrs. x, she should still honor the lease.

however there is pressure on the indians. it could aswell end all pretty soon.

but then again...

my guess is as good as anybodies. IMHO it is not yet decided what they will do. police and military is involved. they want to keep it running as long as possible. but thaksinomics want to have it wiped out.

at least another soi 10 will not happen. this time they might grind it on the legal/illegal axe.

as I said just MHO.
