I recently got a couple of weeks off from work, and hurriedly bought a plane ticket to LOS. Going to spend about 10 days there in late October. I plan to arrive on a Wednesday morning (around 0145 in the AM), then will leave on the second Friday at around noon. I'd like to also take a side trip to Pattaya for a few days.

All I have is a plane ticket. I'm thinking of spending a few days in Bangkok, then 3-4 days in Pattaya, then back to Bangkok.

Currently, I'm leaning towards the Majestic Grande Hotel in Bangkok. I like the accomodations and the location. The reviews have generally been very positive.

For Pattaya, I have no idea where to go, but it should be near Walking Street, I think. That's where the action is, right?

I'll be getting guides for shopping and attractions for daytime activities, and will continue reading posts regarding MPs, bars, etc.

The Royal Palms in Pattaya is a decent choice, if you don't want to be directly ON walking street.

It's nice, not too noisy, and the rooms are decently priced.

The Royal Palms in Pattaya

But I read also on that website:

- Joiner or Companion Fee: 13 USD per joiner per night

So not GF !

Cheers

Yah, the joiner fee would kinda suck if you had to drop another $13 for each new girl. Anyone had this problem with this hotel? Is there a joiner fee if you get a double room?

Better idea,, forget Pattaya, YUK.
Check forum under "girl friendly hotels" try to get one somewhere close to NANA ( Sukumvit road soi/cross street 3) and for variation its only a quick sky train trip or motor-bike taxi to COWBOY.
I mean you only have 2 weeks, I could spend 6 months in those two areas and still not be bored.
AHHHHHHHH
I will be back in LOS January,, seems so far away!!!

IMHO, do NOT forget Pattaya! My research has led to me conclude the following:

stat at the Nana Hotel (Icon, must experience) ! for a few days. Visit NEP, Soi Cowboy and Patpong. Then off to Pattaya! Residence Garden Inn or Areca Lodge, both Very nice, GF, under 2000 Baht (peak). Please let me know what you decide. Also, check out http://www.pattayapages.com and Nanaplaza.com

I can second the recommendation for the Residence Garden, its a little way off from walking st (10-15 mins walk) but its right on the baht bus route and for value for money its hard to beat. I'll be staying there myself from the 15th of October.

Thanks for the suggestions! Since I last posted, I've actually gotten reservations at Majestic Suites for Bangkok. I'll look up your suggs for Pattaya.

On a side note, I'm thinking of exploring a side thing while in Bangkok. I'm thinking of checking out some possible long-term relationships via a dating service. Namely, http://www.sweetsingles.com. I've always done one or the other (mongering or committed relationship), so it'll be interesting to see if I can do a bit of juggling with my trip.

Think I'm crazy yet?

This hotel is on Walking Street and I have stayed there twice. LOVE IT. Great prices and certainly gf. You will not regret. Also, did not find the noise of walking street to be a bother at all.
