Hi,
I am of sri-lankan ancestory though born and bred in the US. I am heading to Thailand next week and would just like to know whether I will face much prejudice while out there.
I've been reading some posts but they were old like dated 2000ish. Just wondering if attitudes have changed much over the last 5 years or not.
I hate to go somewhere and get told that I can't barfine a girl cos of my race! That would suck. :- (

I've just done a lot of reading and looks like it all boils down to attitude rather than race and all that shit.
I am over 6 feet tall, with a full head of hair and in great shape. I also have the correct colored pieces of paper in my pockets. ;-)
As people keep pointing out if they don't let you in somewhere, politely say thank you and move over to the next place. There are literally 100s of bars around.

I'd say you have to get into the establishment (e.g. GoGo Bar) before you can barfine a floosie. I know there are other ways but for the porpoise (sorry TWD!) of this lecture......
IMHO, if you're a short, bald, big gutted falang, wearin' stained shorts, flip-flops, torn vest, with TB200 in your pocket and you haven't shaved or washed since last Wednesday, you'll prolly be able to waltz in to most GoGo Bars in Nana Plaza without havin' displayed much of your attitude.
However, if you're of Bangla/Indian/Pak/Srilankan descent wearin' freshly washed n' pressed troos n' shirt with a smart pair of sensible brogues, smellin' of Brut etc., you have a good chance of NOT being allowed in to a GoGo Bar irrespective of whether you have a lovely smile, a wallet that would choke a horse, good attitude and you waied the Buddah image and said, "Good evening sir", to the guard dog at the door!
Attitude will be useful with the floosies but you have to get in first then you have to make eye contact with a floosie, all before you can bring in to play your attitude n' cash.

^ Pacus- nevermind the yahoos- your third post indicates you're educating yourself and getting the gist of things. Your ethnicity won't be much of a problem at all, but having any of these: poor hygiene, bad/sloppy attire, and/or poor attitude will work against you.
You don't say which venues you are interested in, but in whichever you go to treat the women well, smile as much as you can, keep them at ease and you will be rewarded for your efforts.
