I normally plan my trips to make sure they don't coincide with major public holidays, but Loy Krathong (Nov. 16th) didn't seem like a major one.
Now that Marc announced he is shutting down earlier (8PM), I am beginning to wonder if things slow down on Suk on the evening of 16th or what.
Anyone?

jmho but this is probably the MAJOR holiday in Thailand. Where did you get your information about this not being a big deal in Thailand?

Don't remember, quite honestly. It was a list of all official holidays in the country, and that festival was not on the list. Another site says major venues are Chiang Mai, Tak, Sukhotai, and Ayuthaya (BKK is not on the list).
Anyway, it's not a big deal even if I overlooked something and it is, in fact, a major festival...I might as well make it to the river...just wondering what to expect in terms of activity on Suk on the night of the 16th.

He probably got his info from the fact that Loy Krathong is not a public holiday. Work as normal, and festivities in the evening. Marc is probably nice enough to allow his girls to go off and enjoy the fun, though most bar owners are not so kind.

A) a major festival
B) THE major festival for us guys.
This is the american Prom Nite and Valentine's Day rolled up into one. With you as Santa Clause coming to town.
It started with a princess sending her love on a small boat down river to her king that was on some war that took years. So now it is a feast for lovers that float there troubles away and hope for everlasting love.
Now you have millions of single girls that want to celebrate this day and they are all there by them selves inside that beerbar or gogo. (Picture yourself sitting all by your lonely self under your christmas tree and having not even a cockroach to share it with. That is how those girls feel.)
And then YOU enter their field of vision.
This festival is THE festival for guys that love the GFE. For that day you are their prince in white armor and they don't give a shit about the money.
Do your self a favor. If you want LT's and GFE this is your time to get it.
I have been there 2 years ago in Pattaya and everything was open and most bars were decorated and most girls were in traditional clothes. If you can not get a Kodak moment from this, you must have been pronounced dead a decade ago. I have no info on BKK but I guess it wont be much different.

Did not mean to come down on you about going to Thailand during this time. You are cheating yourself if you do not participate. Absolutely one of my fondest memories of my travels to Thailand. Sometimes, can't believe I'm going to say this, it's about experiencing the culture and not just about sex. Now I'm upset that my tgf will be by herself during this time but I am planning a Christmas surprise.

Sob, damn, sob...I will miss seeing all those girls all dressed up and looking a million dollars. I hope they all have a good night, and are treated right royally - give them a nice night gents.
Here I will be in OZ working, having had a business trip timed perfectly for LK postponed by 'the powers that be'.
Generally speaking I don't think much of my favourite TBG's P4P activities (apart from me), but at this time I'm having a little trouble dealing with my GFE going to some other bastard tomorrow night.
But,,,the girl's gotta make a living and have sanook, so I hope she has a big baht & fun LK with (maybe) another regular or even a new punter who treats her right.
Geez that place messes with my head sometimes - I'm going all soft & mushy writing this. Just needed to put in words...again.
