Thank you to all the contributors to this fantastic site. Reading the field reports is only making the next 30 days pass by slower. I have been reading threads here since September and hope to contribute my own experience after my first trip to BKK this December.
I do have one major concern and hope I am making it out to be a bigger deal than it really is. I am 30 yo American born of Indian hindu descent. I have read some negative things here about Arabs, Indians and Muslims, and worry that Thai girls and mama/papasans may discriminate against me. Especially after 9/11 and the Bali incident. If TG's don't like Indians, I'd just as soon not bother anyone and spend my 5 days at the beaches, temples, markets, etc. But if this is not an issue, I'm heading for the first MP I see. I would appreciate any comments, especially the experince of Indians in Bangkok. By the way, would you recommend Poseidon Entertainment Complex or Entertainment Plaza Complex for the newbie. And if anyone would like to join me for a beer in early December, your company would be much welcomed.

If you are not keen to spend your time at the MPs, you can visit the numerous Indian/Hindu temples in Bangkok or at the Indian restaurants. This way, it would seem to you that you are in India and not in Thailand.Also, spend more of your time in Paruhat (the Indian sector of Bangkok)

I am an Indian and live in India. I have been visiting Bangkok regularly and find no problem with the girls in Thailand. Just go with a positive attitude and have a good time. I am sure you hav gone through the threads on dressing in this forum. It is good to dress smart as shabby dressing turns off the people here the same as anywhere else in the world.
Above all remember to treat the girls with respect. Apart from this being the right thing to do, it will get you that little extra from them in return.

Well I am indian origin too although home is canada, and have just got back from a great trip to Thailand. Although I am not a big fan of Bangkok, its a nice place to fool around with the women. Go to Phuket, nice place and friendly people. Visit any pub and you can talk your way to getting a nice TG for a night or to tour around with. Stay at the Phuket Ocean Hotel in Karon and there is this quiet pub just below the hotel, some nice girls there and very friendly. Do buy them a drink and bargain a price.
Enjoy your self, and if you looking for quiet beach to relax go to the Nai Yang Beach Resort, close to the airport (10 minutes) and the beach is lovely. Try the beach massage and hang out at the beach bar.

My father is from India and mother from Germany and I am from the US. This would make me an American with half east indian decent.
I would do as Kris said, dress nice and do not be cheap.
I was there last month and had girls flocking all over me. I had to reject them because I could not handle so many. Treat them with respect and it is what you have in your wallet that is most important.

Misdirected, I wish you a very happy trip to Bangkok, but know this. You will come across peole who discriminate against you based on your skin colour and accent. Unless you are a handsome devil, this includes bar girls, freelancers, go-go dancers. Massage Parlour girls like Poseidon not so because they are not allowed to choose who they will screw, although levels of service may be affected. I always had a chuckle when I hear or see Thais discriminate against Indians. They seem to forget that Buddha was as Indian as it gets. As long as you remain cool and smile a lot, you should be okay. Places where the chicks dont give a toss where you're from include: Thermae, Grace Hotel, Soi7 Beer Garden and the pavement from Soi 11 all the way to Asoke.

Discrimination is here yes, but business is business. I might have some racist views underneath (as many of us do), but if a XXXXXX (whatever race) wanted to purchase a new canning or bottling line for their business operation, I'm going to accept their business.
The girls will often shy away from whoever they don't like (or in MPs or bars where they don't choose their guests, they'll leave standing requests to avoid certain races), but if they need the business, you'll be serviced just like anyone else.

I have a friend who has been going to Bkk for about 7-8 years. He is American, but of Asian Indian descent. He is about 30 years old.
He has told me that he sometimes gets hassled, but not often. He used to use the self styled nickname "the king of Thermae" as he used to use the Thermae as his base of operations. He also is a big fan of the MP's. (Today he told me that the Thermae has become a "DUMP" and the girls are not worth the pursuit anymore??)
As he is making two more trips this year (around Turkey day and then again at Xmas) I assume that the hassles that he runs into are far less than the pussy garnered.
He is pretty short and has told me that he thinks he gets as much discrimination for this as for being quite dark skinned
