First of all, I would like all of you to know that this forum is the best source of information I have come across on pleasure trips to LOS. I have spent my past week reading through a lot of the threads and have gain extremely valuable information. Thank you for all your time and efforts. I will be in Bangkok for 10 days towards the end of November and this will be my 2nd trip to the LOS. My first trip was over 20 years ago when I was 9 years old traveling with my parents. I hope the experience of this trip will be very different from my first one. (I sure hope so. ) I am thinking about staying at the Majestic Suites. I have read good things about it from other threads in this forum. I got the impression that it is clean, affordable (1500B/night) and guest friendly. 1) Am I on target so far about the MS? 2) Is the location of the MS within walking distance to a lot of the fun places to visit? 3) My flight leaves BKK at 9:10 am. Should I spend my last night at a hotel near the airport? I have no idea how long it takes to get to the airport from MS. I don't like to be rushed in the morning. If so, which would be a good hotel to stay at? Preferrably a guest friendly one and cost around 1500B per night or less. Are there places around the airport to find girls? 4) Will I be able to use my ATM cards to get cash in BKK? Or should I only bring cash and/or travler's checks? 5) Approximately how much will taxi fare be to and from the airport and hotel (MS)? Thank you for all your help.

I've stayed at the MS and it's a excellent hotel, guest friendly in the middle of everthing. If you like in room massage walk 10 meters to Parkway Hotel pick out a girl and they will send her to your room. Book NOW as this hotel fills up. For your flight back leave MS by 6AM and tell the driver to use tollway(you pay the toll) and turn on the meter. ATM card will work fine but bring TC and cash. You can change money in the custom area as there's a money machine on the same wall as customs exit. Good rates. Save 500 bhat for airport exit tax when you leave LOS.

BigDUSA, thanks for your super fast response. Acting on your advice, I have submitted a reservation request to MS. I will probably want to get a massage after I have checked into the hotel because of the long flight. Could you suggest a MP that is close by? Thanks again.

mm3, Please refer to this map to see MS in relation the pleasure spots. http://bangkoktonight.com/maps/sukhumvit.shtml You can use your ATM cards if they support Cirrus or PLUS system. http://bangkoktonight.com/info/atm_cards.shtml In case of emergency, you can always use your credit card for cash advances. From MS to the airport, it would probably be about 300 B (normally 150-200B and 70B for the tollway charges), depending on the traffic. Since you'd be leaving at about 7 am in the morning which is peak hour time, give yourself about 1 hour to get to the airport, please confirm this with the hotel staff. BK

MM3; If it were me i'd go with at least 6am depart from the hotel, if your flight leaves at 9:10am. I think 7am would get ya there to late with traffic at that time of the morning. IMHO coz ya still have to get through checkin and passport control and to the gate. So if you dont like to be rushed in the am then best to leave round 6am. No need to move closer to the A/P and by all means I think ya should end up with a LT on your last night. Happy hunting and drink a cold beer for me coz I cant have any here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mm3, I once stayed at the MS, and it's a nice hotel in an ideal location for sanuk. If you are a light sleeper then ask for a room in the back, or else you will hear the street noise from Sukhumvit. I have also stayed twice at the Royal Asia Lodge on Sukhumvit Soi 8. I like the hotel because it's at the end of the soi and quiet, and very guest-friendly. They have a free 24 hour tuk-tuk service to and from Sukhumvit, and it's always fun to ride to the hotel with your campanion for the evening. When walking late at night be wary of the ladyboys on Sukhumvit since they may be pickpockets.

There is no need to book a room by the airport. I made that mistake. I stayed at the Asia Airport for one night because I had a morning flight. The hotel was nice but it takes a while to get there because of the traffic configuration. Infact it took me the same time from the airport to the JW Marriott on my second trip. I found no action at the Aisa Airport. I did have an offer for LT 6000 THB. I declined and hung out at the bar with a couple of American and Australian guys. I should have stayed downtown and hung out with some TG's.

Jerseyboy, all my nights will be at the Majestic Suites. Could someone please tell me what does MBK stands for, what is it, and where is it? Also where is Siam Square? Are these 2 places close to the Majestic Suites? i.e. within walking distance.
