Hi all. I'm heading to Bangkok for the first time in a few weeks. I keep reading that the upstairs bars in Patpong should be avoided as you are likely to be ripped off. A few places have also mentioned that there are similar shows in Nana where you won't get ripped off. But I can't find any info on where they are. Anyone know? Thanks.

Keep on reading here, but I plan to hit Long Gun in Soi Cowboy and Hollywood 2 in Nana Plaza to get the "show thing" out of my system.
If you read the endless old posts that are on this site, you'll see lots of comments about sex shows.

Yes, a lot of the upstairs bars in Patpong are clip joints and best avoided. However, I have visited the Queen's Castle II which belongs to the Kings Group who run a safe chain of bars. I have found this bar to be safe and it has some nice and friendly girls and mama sans.
Have spent a couple of hours at a time there and run up fair sized bills at times what with buying ladies drinks for upto three girls at a time. However, the bill has always totalled up correct at the end of the day and have never had cause to complain about being overcharged.
So if you fancy visiting one of the upstair bars when you are in Patpong, that's one safe bet.

Each one has his own prefferences, but I found that the shows in the Upstairs Bars in Patpong became "looking instead of doing" after the novelty effect/ shock effect or whatever you prefer to call it, wore off. As you say, you may want to get it out of your system. Personnaly I don'y go there anymore.

This is of course my own opinion. The shows in Patpong does not do much for me. However, the best show I've seen was at Eden club. Had two nice girls put on a "real" show for me. That was very enjoyable!

I agree the shows don't do much for me either but we are talking about a first time experience. I usually go to QCII for fun and games and don't even look at the show on the stage except to identify a good looking girl to call over.
I usually go there with a friend who likes to barfine a girl from there

From what I have learned on this forum I am actually looking forward to try some og the G-Bars you have been talking about ( Chateau Blanc, Piano etc). I understand the ladies there are a bit more reserved untill they now you, but generally more stylish.

I just realised that we are not clear on just what shows we are talking about.
The Patpong bars upstars claim to have live sex shows etc. I can't say if they do or not 'cos I have never been. Fear of rip offs.
The Nana plaza shows used to be pretty raunchy, fanny darts, double dildo's etc, with no male involvement. Not sure if the recent crackdown has quietened things down in terms of the shows but I did notice that gogo's which had tit and nude dancers were wearing bikinis.
Only place I saw dancers still nude was in Soi Cowboy. That was last month.

I have not seen one of "those" shows in BKK. I did see one in Hawaii though. Spent a ton of money trying to figure out how they did those things though!! ha ha ha!!
I have also stayed away from the upstairs at Patpong and Nana Plaza for fear of being ripped off. I guess I will have to go check out Soi Cowboy again, since I heard that most go go bars have the females wear bikini's.
