Greetings forum brothers and sisters
I've checked the Links page as well as the search feature already - both without any damn luck so I am in your hands .... please be gentle ok! 
I want to travel from BKK to HKT via road in April, taking three or so days so I have "plenty" of time to check out middle Thailand and stuff on the way. Dont want to take a bus or train - I am looking to either hire a van (I already posted in the van rental thread) or hire a motorbike.
Question is two fold:-
1) Does anyone know whether one way Motorbike or van rental (w or w/o driver) is an option? Motorbike option could probably be a "return" journey if need be.
2) Anyone that has done the road trip down there before - what route did you take, where did you stop, what did you see and what can you recommend?
I've been to LOS four times now and I want to at least do a few days of non beer bar stuff. Taking a few friends this time who have been corrupted by my sordid tales of "the perfect day in Thailand", and think that this trip will be a good chance to get at least a little culture into them (and me :P ).
And also the madness that is Songkran in Patong
I would appreciate any comments or ideas.

Thanks seubeu. Yep youre right - it would be death on wheels. Not sure if it woukld be the water or the chilli powder that finished me though 
Arriving about the 7th in BKK, then going to get to Phuket by the 11th, stay there for a couple of weeks and sadly head home - lottery pending

I've found you can usually rent a driver/VW van for $1,000 baht a day plus, gas, meals, and logding. Talk to the independent car rental people they usaually came up with the drivers. My TGF usually made these arrangements, I just paid.
