I was planning to visit LOS in November with a friend but now he has had to cancel however I will still be going.My only worries are that I will be bored and lonely during the day time.At night it is no problem obviously because I will have the company of lovely girls but I imagine that during the day being alone and 6,000 miles from home could be quite a lonely experience so what do you other guys do during the day?

Please don't worry - btwn. now and November there are many things you could plan to do. A lot of the times I go to the gym, shop, nap, or pick up a day time treat!! No worry it's all good and if you plan ahead you could do a course - language - meditation - etc... - don't worry later you stay out and long times will make the days melt away - take care and have a good/safe time

There's another thread going (sorry no link) about going to LOS w/ a friend, and I point out some advantages to being on your own at night, but to address your question;
Don't forget that depending on how open you want to be to the experience (everyone's different of course) you will probably get chances to make some casual freinds amongst fellow visiting LOS lovers (sometimes an expat but it's true that we can sometimes be a snobbish lot  ).

Oh and it's true that there is stuff to do in the day and don't forget guys often wind up w/ a BG staying in the day and she takes him somewhere...or else she keeps you in bed (and the chair, and the tub) all day.
Plus if you do things right, as a newcomer (first timer?), you should be using any free time you have to be getting much needed rest.
Really.

If you find a really nice girl she will keep your days filled for you....sightseeing, maybe some shopping, swimming at the hotel pool and before you know it's nighttime again......by the time I'm wide awake in the mornings it's almost afternoon anyway!!!!!

How many of us have had times when we've said:
"Thank god for room service..." as we lay there trying to catch our breath. (Think about it)
To toss one back to thailover; he got it just right when he suggested roll with it: My first trip, was 2 days with casual freinds from HK and then solo. I'm convinced I had one of the all time amazing first trips to LOS and it's all because I just rolled with it.
Be smart; but just go with the flow, delightful things happen in this place that cannot be planned...
