Hello:
Just learned that my 2 aunts are going to Thailand. They are both retired, as in over 65 Y/O. And of course, they want me to give them info. They want to go in June. So, I guess, Chaing Mai, and Pattaya because the weather is better (cooler) there at that time of year. They both like the idea of Traditional Thai Massage etc... Any suggestions as to where & what? Looks like they will be in Thailand about 3 wks.

Doesn't sound like they are there for P4P so I might suggest: the Krabi/Ao Nang area -- quiet and clean (relatively speaking). Direct flights from BKK to Krabi. I really like the small beachfront at Ao Nang. If I could own a house in Thailand, this is probably where I would like to be. Lots of restaurants along the Ao Nang waterfront, and have longboats with longtails to take people out to the other islands in the daytime. Also lots of faster boats to places like Koh Pi Pi, etc.

Hey brother Cal, I'm not too sure you want to recommend a visit to Pattaya to a couple of sweet old ladies ( unless they aren't quite as sweet as I'm assuming  ). Also the coolest time to visit LOS is Nov. to Feb. If they go in June tell them to pack very light clothing. Peace

My parents-in-law (60+) loved LOS. They particularly liked BKK (for the temples etc) and Chang Mai, Chang Rai and the province where the "river kwai" is.
Instead of Pattaya, why don't you go with them to Hua Hin/Cha Am beach area? They are only a slightly longer drive (about 3 hours if I recall) from BKK... and probably a lot nicer for them than Pattaya.
My in laws loved Hua Hin.

Pattaya?....If they want to visit a beach...a Phuket resort if they are that way inclined or as Ballsburstin says Krabi or maybe the Hua Hin (staying at the wonderful Hilton). I know I wouldn't thank anyone if they sent me to Pattaya. Try them a trip to Sukhothai/Phitsanulok.....Ayutthaya...Phang Nga....you know all the nice places that never get a mention here.

You may consider to suggest them to pey a visit to Gulliver's Pub to chill out. So many tourist guides sitting close to bar in the far end of the place and few others playing pool....just a thought, just a thought....oooooooops 60+ shit! in such a case Pattaya, Chiang May, Hua Hin, Phuket and Krabi are fine duh!

I can't disagree with the others alternate locations. If you or they have your hearts set on Pattaya then I reccomend Jomtien beach just to the south of Pattaya.
