Hello Party People,
I am new to the forum, just thought i would say hello! I was born and raised in NYC and one who is so god damned bored sick of the rat race and have decided to fly to the land of smiles for some cheap (affordable and reasonable - not cheap in the disrespectful manner)sun n' fun if you know what I mean  . I leave in the early to mid part of June, i am feeling both nervous and excited at the same time.
I am not looking forward to the almost 24hr flight!! ;p
Any advice for a newbie who never went to BKK before?
I am so looking forward to a place of cheap food, drinks and partying; atleast by nyc standards. I realize I am not going in the sunny season, but that is ok I guess. Are there parts in the south near the ocean that tend to be less rainy? I would love to check out BKK, but would also like to get out and check out the beaches and things.

I am also new and going for the first time in june.
A co-worker told me that the prettiest Thai girls are called Katoueys , which means beautiful in Thai.
I am just now starting to read up on Thailand.

BTW, I hope by "cheap" you are thinking "reasonable in price" when compared to the west, and not "contemptible because of lack of any fine, lofty, or redeeming qualities." If the former, welcome to the forum. If the latter,..... well I leave to other members to try to either reform you or have fun at your expense.
N-Nick, it depends what you consider pretty. If you agree with those that say that the prettiest women in Thailand are men... then you are on the right track.

Dave, do not jump to conclussions. We do not know of the tastes of such friend and of Nick's own.
Such tastes and comment about beauty would actually be valid for a few bros. here. It just depends on which side of the yellow line they stand. Remember some guys like to bite pillows.

I read you Dave. The question I guess becomes: "what is a Thai girl?"
And I guess the answer depends also on who you ask. I still get confused here sometimes not knowing how to talk about some whithout offending anyone: either "he" or "she". I found toms do not mind so much being called "she" as katoeys seem to dislike being referred as "he"
Agreed. Lets wait to see what N-N tells us about his tastes and what side of the line he stands.
Another possibility: the friend never found out what he was up against! 555
