I will stay in The Regent Bangkok and Sofitel Silom hotels. How far from "the action" these 2 hotels?
Are they guests friendly?

I've stayed at Sofitel Silom a few times. As I recall, it's about a 15-20 minute walk to Patpong, but you will need a taxi for NEP or Soi Cowboy.
I never paid a guest fee there, but I don't really think they're guest friendly. I booked for 2 people last time and registered a girl I brought back from Pattaya. The front desk wasn't too happy with it.
The other time I stayed there, I brought girls in for LT and we just walked by the front desk. No one stopped me, but I received a VERY NASTY look from a French girl on the elevator in the morning.
It's a nice place for the money: hardwood floors, walk-in shower with separate bathtub, very comfortable beds. Deluxe rooms are much larger, for only a small extra charge. Nice workout room, but small pool area. Good breakfast buffet.
If you're a cigar smoker, you'll enjoy the cigar bar on the second floor, with an excellent selection of fine smokes.

BTW Sofitel Silom is that HInn Silom .... If so, the two hotels can not be compared in standard.
The Regent is certainly a five star ...... You can bet The Regent is NOT girlfriendly ..... maybe not even for a joiner fee ....

the regent is absolutely not gf, i would put it in the same category as the oriental. probably the only two establishments in town where it is an absolut nono for a joiner!
sofitel silom is friendly. i do have friend staying there for about 6 months now and he is for sure an every night another girl type of guy! allthough it might be a difference between being a longterm guest or 'just' a business guy staying for a couple of days!
