Forgive me if this has been asked before but I am wondering if cameras are allowed in any of the bars in Bangkok or Pattaya? If not are you allowed in if you are carrying one in a camera case?

what is the situation here?
are you on the way back to the hotel and decide to stop for a drink after a day out?,are you intending to take photos in a bar?,are you carrying a huge bag full of photographic equpment?.
personal experience shows me not a real problem.
i carry my camera with me everywhere and while it fits in a pocket,when i sit down i normally take it out and place it on the bar/table,no-one really takes a 2nd look.
if you want to take photos in a bar then a couple of points.
get to know the owners/mamasan and the girls.
while most bars have the 'no photo/vdo' signs up,it is quite easy to use your camera.
ask the people involved and normally permissable,with some strings attached.
i have many photos(and video) of the girls in the bars,but i find the owners do not like photos of the girls on stage dancing.
but as i say,if you are just poppng in for a beer,then i imagine no problem.

Best thing to do is as nokna said.
Check with the owners/manager/mamasan if they say no pics then try not to push it.
You may well find some will allow pics but there may be strings attached ( let them know it's for personal use and not for publication in mags or on the net).
Oh another tip and this should be a given , be polite when asking as you sure don't want to piss anyone off.

Thanks Gentlemen. It is just like in the PI. I didn't want to be out taking pictures and need something cold to drink and not be allowed in a bar because I carried a camera.
Maybe a drink to the mammasan and the MGR would help?

i see no problem with just walking into a bar and having a beer.
not a problem for them,but if you want to take photos in the bar,make it a regular haunt and get to know the people.
then ask.

I taken many photo's in Bars, always after asking and not of the Girls dancing. Never been a problem if you ask, only refused a couple of times.
