Hi, I'm a newbie here, so please bear with me. My question may have been asked/answered here before, but I couldn't see anything searching through the archive.
I'm planning my 1st trip to BKK for the Christmas/New Year period this year. I understand that would be peak time for arrivals there. So, my question is: how much do the prices go up there for accomodation, BG services, etc that time of year? Also, is there shortage of girls due to their going home for Xmas? Is it a good time to go there at all?

prices are going up for flights and some hotels 1st of october.

girls should be plentyful as xmas and new year is not widely celebrated in thailand. and yes, it's a good time to come. the climate is nice. damn, wasn't it hot today??

Xmas & New Year's Eve in Thailand......
Bangkok: most of the hotels don't apply any surcharge as they are already running on high season rates (The Oriental is one of the few that increase the rates during this period)...some have compulsory gala dinner (24 & 31)
Phuket: 99% of the hotels increase the rates from a minumum of 50% to a maximum of 150% compared to the low season rates.......99% of them have compulsory gala dinner (24 & 31)......
Transporation: domestic flights, trains, buses & taxis don't apply any surchage.....it just comes hell difficult to find a seat!
Entertainment venues: usually there is no surcharge, unless you are attending a gala dinner......
Girls/Ladies: as the number of clients increases, it might come difficult to find the good ones available (already taken).......
Suggestion: New Year's Eve in PatPong is must, once in your life!

Welcome to the forum!!
Been there for once during Christmas and new years 3 years ago so my experience is limited. I know that BK can tell you more.
From my experience, the hotels were only a little bit more expensive, but you can always find bargins. Just check the internet sites like http://www.planetholiday.com
Flights to bkk did go up, but going anywhere from the U.S during Christmas time is always expensive. Flying to hawaii can cost you close to $1,000 per ticket coach. Now that's crazy!! ha ha ha!!
Prices did not fluctuate at all for bg's and there was no shortage of females.
I honestly did not like it. I guess I like Christmas to be colder and the smell of pine tree's and all. So, being in Hawaii or a country that does not have any of these things does not seem like Christmas to me. But, again, that's just my opinion.
Beyond that, I found BKk to be the same during Christmas and New Years as any other time. Plenty of females and plenty of parties to go to. I spend New yeas at the dance club Narcissus in a private room. Was very cool, but too crowded for me. Tons of females coming in and out of the room. Only new 10% of them, but who cares!! ha ha ha ha!!
Oh ... you might have to buy more gifts for the bg's / tg's during that time. Everytime I took a female out during the day time, I ended up buying her something because she always bought me something. Go figure?? ha ha ha!!
In any event, you'll have a great time.

bkk is certainly fun on christmas but not so exciting on new year. if you plan to travel come after new year as prices for flights and hotels will go down again. also i am sure you don't want to fight for the girls remaining in the resort places (samui, phuket) over xmas and new year. too much demand out there! lucky enough bkk is not that overcrowded!

If I remember correctly, last year Bar fines were around 1000Baht for Xmas and NY. (Instead of 500). Many of the Jewerly stores were closed and plenty of girls!!! You should have a great time. I know I will.

The Landmark is raising their rates in Nov. - so book now!
I am returning to BKK for XMAS and booked last week at the old rates before I checked out.
Always great service at the Landmark!
