Hello,
this is my first post to this forums, however I´ve been a passive reader for almost 7 months. The forums have been both amusing and informative. I found that there is an answer to almost any question on these boards. I also have a question, some people seem to think that the end of the nightlife in LOS seems to be near. I´d be interested if more experienced members share this point of view, or have a differing opinion. As I´ve said I´m only looking for the opinion of more experienced people, any answer would be greatly apppreciated. Thx,

The answer to your ? NO, NO, NO a thousand times NO. There is to much money being made in the sex tourist business for the goverment to give it up. Can we expect the night life to be toned down? Yes. Down and dirty sex shows will be available but it won't be in your face. You will have to look for it and pay more.

With that understood:
IMHO - I don't believe the P4P industry is going away in the near term. The ruling party may not support it and make waves from time to time about getting rid of it; it is too deeply imbedded in the BKK economy to just eliminate it.
What would they replace it with?
The king is certainly aware of it and if he really wanted it eliminated, I believe he would see it done!

Absolutely the worse thing for it would be to force it underground. I believe the Officials in Thailand are not stupid and know this. I believe they will settle for a "little spring cleaning", try to make it less obvious but not try to close it off.

The recent brithday holiday would be a prime example of what would happen here if the scene was wiped out in the public eye, it will and can never be wiped out, it is a permanent structure of any society, hidden or not.
I was out on Friday night and the street walkers were out in force in different areas, nana carpark was also active, but nowhere near as much as usual. What will happen is that Sukhumvit and other chosen areas will become hives of activity as groups of friends all set up in their favourite spots and the whole street will become one big brothel. Cops will try to police it, people will disappear when they appear, but they will simply relocate to other areas. Escort businesses will also thrive.

Oh, sorry, forgot that for some nightlife is limited to only p4p.
