What is the best book for someone who has never been and doesnt even know the location of the good bars? Also what is the best way around Bangkok? Taxi? Is it cheap?
Print off the maps from this forum of SC, NEP MPs etc, you can also print off the skytrain map. Book your hotel near a station. Cabs are OK take name cards in Thai of your hotel and get the desk to write down your destination in Thai for the cabby. As with anywhere in the world the cabbys will try to rip you off, make sure the meters running from zero or bargain a price before you get in and set off.
As prev poster said read through the postings go back as far as you can make notes under headings for easy reference. Then ask questions on what you cant find in the posts. Last but not least try and hook up with someone during your stay.
