My friend is involved with a nice Thai girl and now she is pregnant! (now how did that happen  ) The thing is, my friend is a Canadian (from Quebec) and is wondering what will the child's status be in Canada. Will the child get automatic Canadian citizenship? Or will they have to return to Quebec and have the delivery there to get a Quebec birth-certificate? He is planning to go and talk to the consulate, but any experience or info will be appreciated from the forum members.

Ya, poor bastard will probably have to leave his current job in Nippon. But I wish him the best. It would be too mean if he is not the father. I'v advised him to get DNA testing or something, ut he swears it's his seed.

I hope you will encourage him to have his child registered with the embassy. They will issue the child a birth certificate and passport.
I helped a Thai women who was married/divorced to a American man who had taken the time to have his child registered 15 years ago with the embassy. He died in the US last year and I was able to help her get social secuirty benifits for her kid. He will receive almost $600USD per month till he's 22 if he stays in school.
