hi I would like to thank u for a great forum I have learned alott from your postes. I am planning my first trip to bkk in may or june for 5-6 days.i would like to find someone to go with or meet their to show me around a bit this will be my first time out of the USA except mexico and canada and im a little leary of going bye my self. also will 1500us be enuf for the trip ?taking in to mind that I dont drink will save some money their lol. if anyone can help me out would be great

Ok, from a "regular" LOS visitor here is a worst case senario guide:-
Hotel, Ok I like the better ones but there are lots of really good ones for 1,500-2,500 Baht! Some members will tell you 500 or 800 but a 4 Star one starts in there.
Food, food is cheap, Breakfast usually comes with the room, I seem to wake up to late and miss it! Other munchies on my mind! Lunch, local or Western 100-250 Baht.
Dinner, perhaps 200-300 Baht, a lot less if you indulge in a a Nana Burger etc.
P4P, Ok a top girl in the Go Go's are asking 3,000 LT plus 600 Bar Fine. Yes you can do better but we are talking worst case!
Add your drinks for the ladies & Brothers, I average 1,000 - 2,000 on a night in LOS, you should do it for a lot less. (that said I got 1,800 bill at the start of the RT in Monet!) The ladies usually only drink one or two at about 100 (I know 60-125 for the nit pickers) per drink.
So thats less than 950O Baht plus transport, use the Sky Train early 15-25 Baht for most of the stops and a taxi to take your catch home, say 100-200.
So for less than 10K ($250 USD) you will have a big night! This can easily be cut in half or doubled (ask brother Smegma for advice on spending more!). Now don't think too much, go out and have a good time!

You'll have a great time in BKK so don't sweat it.
I would suggets you start to price airfares. The high season for flying to asia is June through August. So, if you want a cheaper fare then try to fly in May.
An example: (June - August prices)
China Airlines before the high season is around $780 rt to bkk. During the high season it's around $1,100.
United is a strange airline though. May: $765 June:$92 July $870. Their fares actually go down in July while most other airlines go up. Go figure!!
ANA: $850
Singapore: $910 * June 7th-13th, afterwards $1,190
** PS: book your ticket through a travel agent to get a better price. Checked expedia and got some jacked up high prices. **
Anyways.......
$1,500 is a good amount to take to BKK since it's your first time there. This way you can play all you want and really not have to worry about $$$. You will be hard pressed to blow through all your cash in 5 days.
Unless you fall into the trap of sponsoring a female after the first night!! Then you can kiss your $$$ good-bye!! ha ha ha!!
Anyways, I agree that if you want to meet up with some of the members in the forum to post your dates in teh members schedule. BUT, my advice is to try to hang out with the "master". Not that the other members aren't knowledgeable, but BK..... well... is... BK!! ha ha ha!!
