Because of the SARS my wife wants to cancel our trip to China and go to LOS instead. Itinerary is not yet confirmed, but will be about 5 or 6 days.
BKK:
Can you recommend hotel where she is shielded from p4p, but still convenient for quick escape for soapy
and/ or Eden playtime and/or drink w bros at Gulliver?
Would you advise avoiding Pattaya completely?
Any other help/suggestions greatly appreciated.

Yogibear: I can't give you much advice on BKK but I might suggest you give some thought to staying at the Laem Chabang Country Club in Pattaya. It is right on the course and the course is a Jack Nicklaus design and is quite good (27 holes). It is rather a long drive into Pattaya so it might be hard for you and your brother to slip out, unless you go play some golf somewhere else (he,he).
I don't know of any other hotel where she would be shielded unless you wanted to spend the bucks for the Royal Cliff Beach Hotel. Very pricey but a great place to stay, if you are not chasing skirts. It is hard to shield her in Pattaya unless she is realllly naive. My first ex-wife was!!!

Check out the Sol Twin Towers, BKK. About a 10 minute walk to National Stadium, sky-train station. Good hotel away from p4p but close enough to MBK. I've stayed there and would stay again.
I would not take my wife to Pattaya. P4P is in your face and she will never let you come within 1000 miles of Thailand.

I would try Asia Hotel, which is very near all the "action," but it still looks like a decent hotel for your wife. Anything in the Nana-Asok area.
You could try http://www.planetholiday.com for good rates.
FORGET Pattaya, ESPECILALLY. if you bring her. It;s not worth the hassle if you only have a few days.

Only posted a few minutes and already some great advice. This forum is priceless.
I am thinking about expatchucks contribution. We could make a one evening stay at Laem Chabang Country Club and she would never even see Pattaya. That might also give her the impression that my gof trips to Pattaya are all like staying at Laem Chabang. Does that sound reasonable?
What do you guys think?

Brother Yogi I'll have to 4th the suggestions by the other bros and say that Pattaya would probably get you banned from any future visits to LOS from the wife  . As far as hotels are concerned I would say to look for the "guest unfriendly" hotels. Below should start you off but also check the bkk tonight home page and click hotels. Check the full hotel list and compare it to the "guest friendly" list. Peace

Seriously...I think you couuld get away with whatever you need in BKK-think of the ensuing stress if you leave her alone...
You only have 5-6 days and you have to SPEND SOME time with her to keep up appearances.
Soi 33 is interesting if you can get away for an evening say to "meet the guys?"

OR---THE LANDMARK. You would overwhelm the wife and you are RIGHT BESIDE SOI 4---SERIOUS p4p AND---DURING HE DAY, with another hotel down the soi...

I think you are getting some sound advice. I wouldn't go any where near Pattaya. You better hope she doesn't see or read any of the tourist papers on Pattaya. Your Pattaya golf trips will come to a sudden end! Stay at the guest unfriendly hotels. Bangkok is great, She can go shopping at the malls or partake in the gem scam, while you get your balls washed at a soapy. Better yet send her to a traditional Thai massage, while you get a traditional Thai soapy. Have fun! 5555!
