Hi -
I've delurked to actually place a post.
Usually I tend to prefer travelling to places in tourist off-seasons, just so I'm not amongst throngs of people just like me. I'm considering a visit in the summer. Weather issues aside, how is the scene at the bars and such in the off-season?

Welcome at last. How long have you been lurking??
Busy season is usually regarded as Nov to Feb. So to visit now is better in my opinion since the bars are less crowded. There is more choice for you. GREAAAAAT

Daves correct nov-feb is really "the tourist season".However Feb-middle of April there are alot of holidays in Asia and escorts ,massage parlours ,bar girls are busy with expats ,business men and tourists from within asia itself. So I would say Between April and November.Hotel prices will drop as with other services ,tours ect.

Geekboy,
Pattaya,my home,is busy all year as many expats live here and friends come over etc.Its the hot season now,not that Thailand gets cold anyway except maybe in Nov-Jan when its cooler,I have noticed that if the temperature goes down to 20 c,the Thais start wearing jackets.
