ive been to bkk and pattaya last sept, had an amazing time, and returning for another month this sunday, with a friend this time. We are plannin on staying in bkk for a while, then pattaya than maybe somewhere else, (any ideas???) anyway, last time I went it was very 'in your face' stuff, which my friend doesnt want at the start, so we are hoping to go somewhere a bit less hectic at the start. hers my q's
1.Wheres the best place to go in Bkk to start
2.Anyone know about cheap (2-300bht) guest houses in bkk?
3. Where are some good places other than bkk and pattaya that are close?
4.Is there anyway of getting to china?
and also I am wondering if they do magic mushrooms in thai, as the thai mushrooms are very famous lol

this is a serious post mate, im no troll, seriously.
Last time I went it was a bit crazy (was ok for me but my mate would be nervous) I was hoping to start off a bit chilled out then get in2 the action after a few days.
So im looking for a part of bkk thats a little more relaxed like pattaya.
when I was in pattaya I stayed in a 200bht room with sky tv, I know bk might be a little more expensive but im generally lookin for a cheap place as im on a budget.
I want to travel and see different parts of Thailand, and im intrested in any other areas that are similer to pattaya (prefebly the coast)
I am looking to go to china if its possible?

Good cheap hotel in Pattaya http://www.skytoppattaya.com 450 per night, clean, AC, TV, fridge. Excellent location one block from the ocean.

hello mate, thanx for the reply. As far as im aware mushrooms are not illegal, they seem to be legal everywhere these days, some sort of loophole in the law. I was under the impression that mushrooms are available in shops like they are over here. If this is not true then I will not risk a visit to the Bangkok Hilton lol

Have a good time bro but best to steer clear of any shady activites. Pretty much all party drugs, including shrooms, are illegal in Thailand, and the penalties are harsh if you get caught. Cheap guesthouses can be found all along Khao San road and the surrounding streets. That whole area is pretty laid back, so your friend should be able to cope.

Go to http://www.khaosanroad.com where there is a map and plenty of information.
Taxi should take about twenty/thirty minutes depending on the traffic.
Join the line for the taxis and hand over the fify baht to the teller and get your receipt, good idea if your not to sure as they will assist you.
Your looking at 300 Baht'ish' for the ride including the tollways, any problems when you reach the destination, see the tourist police on the corner and in the middle of the road (not literally).
shrooms illegal along with everything else, stay clear.
