I would like to thank hzink for some good info, and I thought I would share with other n00bies!

- Your cab from the airport should NEVER be more than 250 Baht. You will have louts at the airport try to sell you on 'where you go, sir?" "I have taxi for you, sir", and then proceed to charge you 800 to 1,000 Baht for a cab ride to town. Doesn't matter if they call it a 'limousine' (that just means it's a regular passenger car), or if they say it includes 'toll way fare' (that just ads 70 Baht to the fare).

When you get out at the airport, look for the taxi stand on the side (usually, to your left when you walk out of the arrival terminal), tell the lady at the counter where you are going, get your receipt, and be off. Make sure the cab driver turns on the meter.

- skip the 'escort' services. You're going to Bangkok, for crying out loud. It should not take you longer than 30 minutes to find an equivalent 'helper', and for 1/4th the price of the 'escort'. Save the money, and get a better experience.

- Check for a hotel in the Sukhumwit area, and there are plenty to find if you check out the hotel links on BangkokTonight's home page. Don't be lured to go into an 'American' hotel, like the Westin, the Marriott, or the Sheraton - you'd only pay more than you should. Don't pay over $25 a night (1,000 Baht) if you're on a budget, or 2,000 Baht ($50), maximum, for a really nice place. All you need is working a/c, a nice bed, and an in-room safe.

- Count on spending roughly $100-$120 a day, and that includes your entertainment, and your hotel.

- If you tell the girls that it's your first time in Bangkok, you will be pegged for a sucker. Go ahead and tell them, if they ask, as you can segue into "and you can teach me thai", but be sure to NEVER ask them how much money they want. You should pay them no more than 1,000 Bahth short time, 1,500 Baht long time. If you have a girl that blows your mind, feel free to pay more, but never more than 2,500 long time (and that would INCLUDE taxi fare). Otherwise, if the girl asks for cab fare, throw in an extra 100 Baht - NEVER MORE.

- Unless you're just into quick sex, go for long times. It's more fun, especially if you enjoy waking up next to a young cutie in the morning. They generally leave in the morning, after breakfast. They will invariably ask you if you will come back to get them again that evening. Really, that's up to you - but be aware, that if you have a nice cutie, it's very tempting to say "Sure!", but try to bite your tongue. Just tell her 'Maybe...' -- you *will* find new, and sometimes more interesting girls before the day is over. Sometimes I went back to what I liked the night before, sometimes I get something new.

- Try to spend some time with the girls - take them to eat (these girls can wolf down food like you have no idea), or a movie. Have them show you the city? Ask them what they like about Bangkok. Ask them what in Bangkok have they NEVER seen - and then take them there.

Good destinations in Bangkok:

Traditionals: Wat Poh (the big temple where the monks teach massage) ; The Royal Palace; Khoa San Road (backpacker heaven - you'll see all the losers from foreign lands) ; be sure to take the BTS (skytrain) a lot of times - it's more fun, and you see more; a ride on the Chao Phaya River.

Great destinations, but less familiar: Chatuchak Weekend market - be prepared to spend the day there, it's 36 acres of fleamarket type shopping - you *WILL* spend money there, and the girls love the place; The floating markets, also on weekends;

Sexy Places: Nana Plaza; Soi Cowboy (I prefer Cowboy, because it is more spacious, has more bars, and the girls are sometimes nicer - it's seasonal) ; Patpong (nice seedy place, but also has a cool streetmarket out front)

Shopping: MB (Mah Boon Krong), the hugest shopping center you will see, and it has a tons of small stalls crammed into it - check out the third floor (I think) in terms of getting cellular phone stuff) - you can also find bootleg DVDs, and software there, these days; Panthip Plaza - electronics super mall - it has to be expereinced - also has bootleg DVDs and programs;

Be sure to print out the various streetmaps and stuff on BangkokTonight.

Good & easy way to avoid the extra 50baht surcharge is to take a cab on the departures level on the second floor!

Speaking about shopping centers, I come back each time I stay in BKK to Siam and Silom. I have had one time in a big one at Thonburi with cinemas. But I have never gone to MB and Panthip. Where are they ?

Mr Alan
MBK is just west of Siam Square (Siam Square is across the street from Siam Discovery Center). MBK is also connected to the National Stadium BTS stop on the second level via the Tokyu Department Store.

Panthip Plaza is on New Phetburi. just east of the Indonesian Embassy, a bit northwest of the World Trade Center.

That's included in the 250 Baht - I usually pay 150 Baht for my far from Don Muang to Centre Point Petchburi.
