Thanks a lot to all who parted their valuable knowledge to my mid-nite arrival question. Now that I have a good feeling as to what to expect on my arrival mid-nite, I would like to ask what else I can do in BKK besides bars, go-go, MP, girls, etc.
I mean can you guys/gals please suggest the must see places in BKK, including shopping places.
My visit is for three weeks to Thailand and it overlaps X-mas and new year. Is every thing closed on X-mas? Where should I spend the X-mas, BKK, Phuket, or Pattya?
Also, planning to make a quick trip (two days) to Angkor. Which airlines is the cheapest?

There are many places to shop, but I would say the "must see" places are:
- Chatuchak Weekend Market (BTS Stop - Mo Chit)
- Panthip Plaza - computer stuff, DVD's, software (Phetburi Rd, near Indonesian Embassy)
- Emporium - lots of high end shops, many restaurants and food courts, and cinema (directly conected to BTS stop - Phrom Phong - Soi 24)
- MBK - (directly connected to BTS Stop National Stadium via Tokyu Department Store)

I liked the Grand Palace, river cruise, day trip to the bridge on the river Kwai. Royal Barge museum on the river. I flew Bangkok Air to Angkor, no drama. I found two days more then enough to see the ruins. I got my visa to Cambodia in the US. Saved a long wait at the airport.

I liked the Dusit zoo, muey thai boxing, chinatown, the main Wats, floating market tour, and the bridge on the river kwai tour. Get a guide book, I like "let's go travel guide, Thailand", plenty of tourist information.

I liked the Grand Palace, Wat Po, ride a public boat on the river, or most of the malls. Stop by one of the tourist offices to get more info and get a map of the bus and subway routes.
