Wow interesting to see all the threads on RCA are over a year old.
RCA (or Royal City Avenue) is a street that runs between Rama 9 and Phetburi. It used to be the number one hangout for Thai teenagers with about 100 bars/clubs. Of course, Thai teenagers arent allowed to hangout anymore and there are more commercial buildings on RCA than clubs.
At one end of RCA there is now a single club Forte RCA (see long thread) which is a Coyote Ugly type club - still popular and open until 2.00am. Average age of customers is probably late 30s.
At the other end, there are a bunch of clubs and pubs... the most famous of which is a Thai disco called Route 66 which still does good trade.
Others places of note that I know there.
Lucile - sister club of Lucifer in Patpong
Code - well rated, house club (never been able to find it)
Downtempo - club with 3 different types of music on different floors
Ezzy - Trance club, awesome sound system, great dj, no customers
The street is a shadow of its former self but expect it to make a comeback. It is supposed to be in a 'zone' - presumably this is why Forte can open late but more importantly Mrs Toxin has bought a large area of land nearby to turn into an entertainment complex.

Abrak (or anyone else) -- I've read a few good things about House at RCA; for example, Cornelius is playing there this weekend, and that seems to be a coup of sorts. Any info about this place?

There is a small 'alternative cinema' in RCA that is called 'House'
I guess it could be used to house small concerts too - Cornelius is a Japanese techno artist right?
Anyway I guess that is what you are talking about...
Never been there myself....

For some reason my taxi drivers used RCA as a short cut several times this weekend & I got to see it in all its glory during daylight hours. I was not impressed. It looks really run down & all the bars need a face lift & a lick of paint.
Although I have been to Forte a few times I can never seem to find it in daylight.
The bars at the other end (Route 66 etc) seem to be busy on Friday & Saturday but I have not seen much custom during other nights.
Overall, I am not overly impressed with RCA..it needs someone to get a grip of the area and knock it into shape. It has potential but if I was writing a School Report the words "could do better" spring to mind.

Thanks for the link, Abrak. Yes, Cornelius is a Japanese techno artist, although BK Weekend called him an "experimental postmodern rock artist" whatever that means. Apparently House also serves as a music venue; as part of the SOI Music 2004 festival he was scheduled to play with local bands like Futon.

In the same building as the theater is a new indoor go-kart track. These karts are fast and its alot of fun. Dangerous though, if you crash.
