I'm leaving in about a week and could use a couple of new short-sleeve, collared, button-up woven shirts. My problem is that there's little selction available in Chicago currently, with cold-weather clothing taking up shop space.
I detest shopping, so if anybody could suggest a couple of places in/near Suk where I might be able to take care of this relatively painlessly, please let me know. I'm only 5'9", so I don't need oversized farang shirts, just a nice selection of quality threads at somewhat reasonable prices (or not). Thanks in advance for any help.

There are a bunch of sidewalk vendors of all sorts, including shirts, clustered along Sukhumvit Soi 5+/- area, generally across from the Landmark Hotel.
However your best selection, and an incredible one at that, is the Pratunam sidewalk etc. market around Indra Hotel, not far from Suk.
All are at extremely reasonable prices, and as good a quality as their inflated counterparts. You might need a next size larger than you are used to in the US as the sizes run small in LOS.

Go to Indra Hotel. Behind it there is a "thai style shopping mall" (Pattunam market or Watergate) where you can buy a lot of cheap clothes and other things.
Dont forget to bargain and smile!

Or try the wholesale clothes market at Bo Bae Tower, Damrongrak Road. (Under the Prince Palace Hotel.) This is where many street vendors buy their stock. I got 20 pairs of shorts for 250 baut.

Nah TPE, if I was really nasty, I would have told him to stop off in L.A. on the way. Nice selection there.
Or just cut the sleeves off any long sleeve shirts he has.
By the way, in Chicago if the guy goes to Marshall's, Ross stores, or Max's, he would find summers shirts on sale, even at this time of year. Or at the better department stores they have a cruisewear section. Small selection, but that's what his mom would tell him to do.
Besides TPE, I am always in the corner.

Fastmover, I'm privy to Marshall's and TJ Maxx -- nothing there. Ross's I've never heard of, but I'm done trying in Chitown, as it's now too late and WAY TOO FREAKING COLD to bother. I know there'll be a ton of variety in BKK (and cheaper), so why bother?

Nope, I am just a maniac shopper, which is another way to relax and chill out in BKK. So I suggest you take a stroll or two in MBK, former WTC (can't think of the new name) or around Pratunam.
Because shopping isn't just shopping in BKK. It is also a good time to scope out the chicks and perhaps you might strike up a conversation or two.
See some members field reports.
Chicago? Great town, been there a few times, but man, the snow you guys get!!!
