Hi guys,
Two quick questions if anybody can help.
1. Is there anywhere in BKK that I can get real Armani jeans or close enough to real fakes? Please do not suggest getting some run up at a tailors as they never have the correct denim just cheap sh_t that looks awful.
2. Where is the best place to get bootleg software and how much should I be paying for say Microsoft Windows XP Professional or Microsoft Office 2003?

1. Look around in Emporium or Gaysorn Plaza for starters (ask taxi to take you but best is the BTS train, Emporium is connected to Phrom Phong BTS station and Gaysorn Plaza is next to Chit Lom BTS station.)
2. Go to Panthip Plaza or IT Mall next to Fortune Hotel.

I just paid 4,200 baht for an original Windows XP Home in Pattaya. Can't help you on copies but I don't have to look over my shoulder every time we get on the internet either.
How much are originals in the States (assuming you are a US member) ?

Q 2 - been answered, but costs wise - as you walk into pantip there will be someone who will come up to you and say office xp (etc) for 100 baht. What they will then do is charge you 100 baht per disk and from memory there are 6 = 600 baht. Don't know if thats a scam - but only $20 aussie dollars so who really cares. Would be keen to hear from others whether thats the norm or a scam?
Whether its DVD's, programs, etc my average is 100 baht to pay - but sometimes will go up to 110. Could even go for 90 if you bargain hard. And thats in bkk, pattaya, chiang Mai etc. But once again on a "per disk" basis....
They will tell you too cheap, but you can just say that you will go to guy earlier who will sell. Of course, if you are only buying one disk, I wouldn't haggle over 10 or 20 baht. But if you are buying a lot, then it adds up.
Another strategy is to look and see how many you want to buy THEN haggle price, this works well if you buy lots of course. Along Suk I overheard a few times people say OK to 150 baht which was the price they would approach you on???
