I was in Pantip yesterday getting a few DVD from my normal guy I buy from in there and him and about 20 other guys all got busted at the same time. I was ok. The undercover policeman had a fake beard he looked like inspector Closeau. They all just paid him some cash and with in 10 minutes they where back in biz. When you go there just be on your guard

The young lady who works at 'MY BAR' the street bar on Sukhumvit opposite the landmark Hotel is married to the fella a few yards down who sells the DVDs. They had to pack up a few times she told me but were back a short time later.
Try asking her if they're not there. Really nice girl, think her mum owns the bar but she's been ill recently.

just a side note to this..
I recommend buy only DVD 9s
the DVD 5s are more likely than not to be cheap sh!t imitations where someone has actually filmed the show in a cinema and popped it onto a DVD.
Completely ruins to point of DVD video and sound. The quality is super crap...
DVD 9 however is normally films that have been released a while and they'll have a few languages to choose from and sometimes DTS sound.

my Gf in Chiang Mai has three stores selling fake CD's and Watches. She had shut down her operation for the aids conference. Every time the eyes of the world turn to thailand everybody gets busted by the boys in brown. She gets f_cked because the plod from BKK pay visits to CM occasionally and they can go unrecognized

Unfortunately, this does not always hold true.
'DVD-9' has become like all other labels in use in BKK, just a decoration. I have purchased DVD-9 discs, which were of the same 'camcordered' quality.
Not only that, but the 'DVD-9' is a misnomer, as while the disc is certainly a dual-layer product (can always tell by the glue marks in the center), the actual data content on the disc is usually under 4 gigabytes - hence, would have fit ona single layer disc just fine.
I've done these checks on all of the DVD-9 discs I bought last time, and they were all of the same variety - all contained less than 4GB of data - and that includes those copied directly from commercial discs.
This isn't to say that you will not find some real DVD-9s, but the majority that I sampled are all fake DVD-9s.

I know a number of patpong and CM dvd shop owners and they assure me the dvd9s are actually dvd5s dvd9's cost them more as well so most don't buy them

best bet is to sample some shops and find the one that gets you the best quality and stick to them like glue.
Avoid DVD10 also, it's just one DVD with both sides in use (DVD 5 x 2), no label, shiny on both sides. The label is actually on the disc's inner ring, just text.
Most of my DVD9s have extra features etc. and are over 4gB, but I've found a good vendor. Price is a bit high though at 200b/disc
don't ask about my vendor, unless you are willing to travel about one hour beyond PTTY (in the opposite direction of BKK)
surely they get them out of BKK though...

The chap who sells on the corner stall in Patpong market I always found to be real honest re the quality of his DVDs....have bought a fair few off him mind.
Usually will let you know the quality before you buy.
Example...when I bought 'Dawn of the dead' he told me it was a cinema copy and would have a better one in next week which he did.....only problem was they cut the credits out!!!! Anyone who has seen it will understand.
