Well, the Christmas season is just around the corner and I've decided to purchase the Thai girl an iPod Nano. She loves Thai music and loves to sing in my ear which makes me a very happy camper. She hopefully will be in the states sometime early next year and this will give her something to listen to on the plane trip over. Anyone know of good download sites for Thai music. I'm looking for free stuff here similar to the old napster. I've looked in the newsgroups. I don't want to spend a fortune on Thai CD's as she already has a good collection and I don't want to duplicate her CD's but I would love to give it to her loaded with Thai music. Any thoughts, suggestions?
fyi, I can get these nano iPods and the normal versions at a 7% discount off the retail price. Let me know by PM if you are interested and I'll help you out. I don't want to ship overseas so U.S. only if you want me to pick one up for you or the tgf. My discount is at Sharper Image which carries most of the iPod stuff. I can also just send you gift cards and you can make the purchase in your state and avoid shipping. I don't like to pay full price for anything. I will be coming to Thailand in October so if any of the bro's are interested I could bring one or two with me.

Here's a thought: pop into the Copperwired Mac store on ThongLor, at the J-Avenue shopping center, and plug your Nano into whichever one of their laptops is serving up the music and share as much of their library as you can.
Everytime I'm in the store, I hear some amazingly good Thai Pop, or acoustic or Folk music emanating from the systems setup in there.
Their taste in Thai music seems very, very good.

I don't know about the US, but she should be able to get a download of Thai music at TukCom Shopping center in Pattaya. My lady can take yours there to get it done, if you are in the area. Better yet, my daughter can take both of them.

Hey Doc, I asked the.MP3 sellers in Pratunam Center and Pantip about the availability of.MP3 CDs with Thai music. I have found nothing. Do you know if and where.MP3 CDs with Thai pop music are sold?
LS, there are two sites you might look at, but they do not have.mp3. They only have streaming music.

I've used ethaimusic and listen at work all the time. All my coworkers think I'm nuts. 
You can also link to the lyrics for the songs and get pronunciation, definition and the word used in a sentence. I always joke around with the tgf about not taking a shower and being hot and stinky. Picked this word up from one of the songs.

Not much in the way of choice but it is free so might be worth a look, although you'll have to download the BitTorrent client first if you don't already have it.

Thanks for the advice. Still not sure what I will do but she will be in America in hopefully 7 months. I'm hoping to fill it up with Thai music and will help her update it in the U.S. Of course, she may or may not get the Visa but things look really good. I'll ponder your thoughts and may change my mind. She already has a CD player which we purchased while shopping with Jingjo.

Once she gets to USA, no problem.
But be SLIGHTLY cautious about FM tuners, digital ones. Seems that the US uses 1 step size for the frequencies, the rest of the world, or most of it, another. Given that the US's is "larger", a "foreign" one will work in the US (just hit an intermediate freq that is not used), while a US one MIGHT step over a foreign legit freq.
My luck, her favorite local station would be one of those skipped over.
