The copy games are cheaper in BKK, but I believe the original manufactures console is cheaper in the U.S.

Also remember that if you buy a ps2 or xbox console in BKK it's on PAL and also a different region of games. So, the console will work on your U.S television.

Not to mention that if you buy any games in BKK, you have to have that universal chip installed in your ps2 in the U.S.

Thanks for the info ABC.  I have another question.  If I buy Xbox or PS2 console in USA and bring it to Thailand, will it work with Thailand TV?  Or do I need to install some universal chip ABC mentioned earlier?  How much is the chip and how difficult to install it?
Thank you.

I'm  not sure about the xbox and what is required to play games purchased in BKK.

But, if you want to play games purchased in BKK on your ps2, thne you need the conversion chip. I think the chip can be purchased online for around $30. I have not installed one, but friends have and say it's not to difficult, but that does not mean anything.

I don't think a U.S ps2 will work in BKK. Again, I believe since they use PAL standards and we use NTSB or something like that they are not compatible.

ABC,

The National Transportation Safety Board has NO official position on using Thai X-Boxes or PS/2s in the US.

Know what I mean PAL/NTSC?

Ha ha ha ha!! I knew it was something like that. Okay. NTSB was wrong, but I was right in concept!! ha ha ha ha!!

You are right, it's NTSC. So, I was off by one letter. A "C" instead of a "B".

Boy. that's two corrections you made regarding my posts. What are you ... following me?? ha ha ha h a!!

It depends if the tv is setup to playback PAL and NTSC. Many tv sold in LOS can do this.

Does anyone know if a multi-format VCR can be used to convert a PAL game system to NTSC? I have a feeling they're not wired to do that, but I could be mistaken.

I realize, of course, that I could record the game and then play it back in a different format, but that might make some games difficult to play.

Ok this goes for any game console
most newer TV can handle Pal/NTSC singles, but you must connect the Console via the Composite RGB sockets on the back or front of the  TV, if you have a good TV then use the S-Video and Composite connections. If you use the RF connection (same as a normal TV aerial) then the picture will be black and White.
Also the only system worth having in Thailand is PS2 as XBox games and chips are still hard to get here and expensive compared to PS2 stuff which there is lots of.

qsxd,

The ps2 is cheaper than the xbox in Thailand, system and games(real and copied both).

I brought my US bought ps2 to Thailand and went to pantip to get it chipped.  Prior to getting it chipped, it worked fine with my TV.  What "may" be important is the transformer.  I lucked out when one of my buds left Krungthep and gave me his sony ps2 transformer.  Better safe than sorry.  Might fry your entertainment setup.
