As far as I know Mother India is the best and most well know indian film ever made. It is and I can say this as a mad film file one of the most important films ever made outside of the western film industry. Very good choice. Shame its not in the original Black and white.

You may find lots of indian DVD's old and new movies at Tumul VDO's at sukhumit 23 and if you are looking for more options try fahurat opposite ATM shopping center. ummmm the shop name is DVD world

Most of them are now available in DVD format, in Calcutta, India. I just got a copy of Pather Panchali (1st of Appu Trilology)

Satyajit Ray's and other bollywood movies can be bought from Pahurat. There is a big indian area there, with lots of indian shops.
there is one very good shop named - Sunny Videos. I have been buying from them every trip, and the quality has be excellent so far, and choice is huge!

You sure?...I have been over there many times and know Sunny Video (haven't been for a year or so), usually in that area if I mention Satyajit Ray they look at me blankly.
I only require Apur Sansar of the trilogy, I now have Pather Panchali and Aparajito.
