If you do decide to go down there, let me know and I'll have more info for you....hotels etc, there is one hotel in town that stands out over most of the others in the same price range. Couple of good restaurants as well and some things not to do.

Cyborg you may want to have a Thai counterpart if this is to be a ongoing business. It seems being white you will never get past the two-tier pricing here. What I do is visit companies/vendors where I want some product get pricing and info and maybe take some pics. Then at a different point in time (one week or later) I send in a Thai to actually buy the stuff. The Thai's always get the best price. Now if I only transfer this tactic to BG's I would be a happy man.

Agreed.
I was going to say all this later, and if dealing in NST he would do well to get a local involved. They can be a bit insular down there, and also speak a different dialect (certainly to Isaan). If I speak the dialect to Isaan girls they don't have a clue.

Thanks guys for all the info. I have recently met a Falang here that makes his entire living on imports from LOS. He is taking me under his wing so to speak and he has some contacts to assist with shipping etc. Unfortunately he is focussed almost entirely on Chang Mai and the products he can get from there. Hell this guy has been doing this import thing for 8 years but has never heard of Nang Talung etc. Guess the north is definitely not the place to find this stuff. Since I intend to focus highly on these he is not so helpful.
When I do finally go there I guess I will have to try and figure out a way to get a Thai involved that I can trust. Not sure how to pull that off. The suggested work around of having a Thai go pay for my stuff is fine for many things but I am hoping to have some of these made to my designs. Would need a real Thai partner to pull that off.
It will be a while before I actually dive into this so I guess I am only doing some preliminary research at this time. No need to get into it too deeply quite yet. I don't see any easy way to find a trustworthy Thai unless maybe one of you bros is married to one or ???
I will probably be diving into this in Feb or so and may be seeking more detailed advice at that time.
