Most software vendors will quote about 130-150 baht per disk for bootleg software CD's at Panthip Plaza (upper floors) or Fortune IT Mall, but the price is negotiable, especially if you buy multiple CD’s. Be forewarned that newer software (especially from Microsoft) may not work past a trial period without internet activation, which checks to see that no other computer is using the same serial number. However, some “corporate editions” can be installed on multiple machines.
But in general, there is always a risk of the software you buy not being useable. In some cases the software CD's sold at Panthip have virus on them (watch out for Adobe products), so always backup everything before installation.

Late last night, being the good celibate that I am, after having returned from the Star of Light to sample my beauty perform, before I reached for my phone to call for home delivery, I got a phone call asking me to work today and tomorrow.

Having looked forward to this weekend for a few days as being the first one of the New Year to really enjoy fully the pleasures afforded here, I felt cheated and so immediately took myself off to Soi Cowboy for a quickie.
Imagine my feelings of devastation and shock, when after trawling the usual prospects in a variety of bars, at 10 to 0ne the ashtrays were being hidden and on the stroke of one the lights went out and the girls dissolved from the stage as if a siren had silently sounded.
Police.
We close.
What ?
Friday night ?
One o'clock ?
Same tomorrow ?
No. two o'clock.
What the f*** is happening to Bangkok ?
You can't even go shopping at a decent hour now-a-days.
I had no time to go trawling the Suk, so I lamely made my way home.
Somehow, somewhere, and at some time I will have to compensate myself........................and soon.

Same thing in Bamboo Pub as well. It was even worse there, 12:30 am! good thing I wasn't there. Was somewhere else where it closed at 2 am instead, well, more like 2:30...

the streetstall bars on sukhumvit road aka star wars street parade was in full swing til 6am.
all the other usual late night venues were shut at 2am,
except spicy, but they would not allow people in after 2.30am.

1 a.m. closing time again last night at Soi Cowboy.
Yes, I know I can trawl the streets for the alcohol outlets and cram myself into the few over-crowded venues that stay open til early morning, but this still doesn't change the fact that this early closing of bars is very, very sad.
It just means that there will be many more people out on the streets after 1 a.m.
It wont cut down on the amount of drinking.
It wont cut down on the P4P transactions.
It will enable the police to feel that they have the bars under further restricted control and pave the way at some time in the future to hike up the unofficial payments extracted from those managers who want to be a bit more flexible.
Such a shame to walk into Cactus and Sheba's and see the girls dancing, clothed.
Maybe I can appeal here to any monger who happens to be hitched to the Chief of Police's daughter or a sister of a Royal Household butler to apply their influence.

Or maybe as a body, we can use Samak's scam of supplying whole fleets of supposedly authentic Austrian Fire Engines at 6 million baht a throw for Bangkok during his time in office as Governor of Bangkok when he was as thick as he is today and forgot to remove the 'Made in Thailand' stamps and engraved and punched serial numbers, to enable him to intercede on our behalf.
