Sounds great guys! Exuding quality is what it's all about! Soon as I get settled I'll swing by Raja's in Soi Nana, Perrys on Silom then roll on over to Alla Moda on 2nd floor of Siam Center. So mt, does oldhands price quote of 15-20k baht jibe with the finer fabrics and tailoring I'd expect to find at Alla Moda?

Skip, that's in the ballpark. It also depends on whether you're going for a 2-piece suit or a 3-piece suit. Obviously, it's gonna cost more for the 3-piece, but 15k to 20k for a 2-piece sounds right for the top-end fabric.

Depends on your shoulders. If you don't need them to achieve the "square-shouldered" look, then that's your answer. Usually however, the pads do help in giving the jacket some symmetry and allows the jacket to drape better over your body.

MrJoe, a word to the wise, forget about gold buttons on anything unless you want to look like a sailor. Keep it simple, cool and sophisticated. Another piece of advice, if you're splashing out on a new suit or two make sure your shoes are up to it, there's nothing worse than a nice outfit being destroyed by shoddy footwear, and, my female friends assure me that one of the first things a classy woman looks at it is the mans shoes, and finger nails. Maybe this isn't such an issue with TGs but its all good for your self asteem. I used to co own a fashion label in London by the way so I think I know what I'm talking about. Good tips for the tailors though guys, will be checking them out next time aswell. Are these the places to go for latest styles though, or if take a few magazine photos can they do pretty much anything ? Also, what is the leadtime on walking into the shop and walking away with the finished goods ?

Stueyb, Raja's made a tux for me in about 10 days, the last time I was there (they had their yearly special @ $275 plus $45(?) for the vest). The package included one white ruffled shirt, one vest, one pair pants, the jacket, a cummberbund, two pocket squares, and two pretied bowties. Made of a very high-quality synthetic. I just pointed to a picture in one of their books I really liked and they made a replica. Really nice, can't imagine what it would have cost to do the same here in the States. Looked real sharp at a wedding I just attended. Was funny to watch the women's mouths at the reception just literally fall open as they saw me in this thing. Never had this reaction from American women before, so I really laughed at that. It IS important to give them time to do multiple fittings, whether they seem impatient or not, as they are usually pretty busy. And it is important to insist on getting things right if you have an issue with the way things look to you, so that you will be happy with the final product. I will be asking Raja to make me some additional shirts for the Tux when I return in December. - Balls
