Quote: from dotcom on 1:09 am on Jan. 28, 2005 From today's Bangkok Post. Johnnie Walker to launch "Green Label" in Thailand. According to this story Thailand will be one of a select few countries where this "Super Premium" Scotch Whiskey will be sold. Green lable is single MALT whiskey not scotch, which is a blend Just add my pedantic 1B worth Bash

Rubbish. ''The Scotch Whisky Association Council has endorsed the recommendations of a working group set up to review and propose appropriate definitions for the following categories within the Scotch Whisky market (note: Scotch Whisky is already defined within The Scotch Whisky Acts and orders) : SINGLE MALT Scotch Whisky SINGLE GRAIN Scotch Whisky BLENDED Scotch Whisky BLENDED MALT Scotch Whisky BLENDED GRAIN Scotch Whisky'' (I removed the definitions, but in common with Scotch drinkers around the world, the SWAC calls Scotch Scotch. The word 'Scotch' doesn't mean 'blended'.)

Oooh, you got me. Vic, I've fallen. Didn't sound like a joke. Sounded like your 'pedantic 1B worth'. 'very very quick internet research'? No, I just typed two words into a search engine, hit return, and there it was. 'you should do it for a living ' How do you know I don't?

JW Gold 750ml costs $US100 in Australia, probably similar in the US and UK. It's about $80 in the Melbourne Duty-Free. In Phnom Penh convenience stores it is $US28. (Twice that at the airport Duty-Free). It is marked "Singapore Duty Not Paid." It is the genuine article. It is a very nice drink, robust and flavoursome. Subtlety is not its selling point. Think Chivas Regal with extra texture. It is definitely worth the Phnom Penh price. In other countries, the Green Label is probably preferable.

Gold can be had in laos for 900 baht, so duty free BKK should be the same, tried them all but my fave ie seagrams 100 pipers @ 280 baht at any 7/11 I can drink 1 and a half + bottles with a friend and the next day no hangover nothing. Black has the status in los but 100 is the best.

Isaanking,, 100 PIPERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You must either have been exposed to excess amounts of radiation or been brainwashed by terrorists. 100 PIPERS is the most disgusting fluid ever to be sold as a scotch. And what is even more discusting is its "bottled in Australia" for which I have apologised profusesly to every Thai person I have met. When in Thailand I have tried a few different brands and found " Blue Eagle" to be a good compromised between price and quality.
