dryborg,

i would not recommend uploading pics at an internet cafe. as the connections are way too slow. and you first have to download your digital camera progam into the computer anyway. then you risk that someone else might see those pics, and do whatever they want.

i would suggest buying memory sticks (a total of 256mb should suffice a ten day trip), or better yet get a media storage device, which you can buy from Compsa or most electronices store. they run in the mid $200 range. and can hold around 30gb. then you can reuse your memory sticks, and later transfer all data into your computer from the media storage.

Do I need own writable cd's. How much is the typical cost?

So what you exactly do...Go with own cd's and put dig cam applications in their machines etc...

They have Nero burning rom prog there?

I have Canon Ixus v3...Bought it yesterday, hmm 30 000 baht would have gotten many pretty....;)

dont forget to bring your camera chargers, and you may need to invest in an extra battery.

Guys,
How do you charge and use your Lap top computers, digital cameras, and other electronic equipment while in Thailand or on other countries?

I was looking at a voltage converter for international travelers, and there was a warning that said that this cannot be used for electronic equipment such as Televisions, VCR, and other electronic components?

I have a Lap top, and a digital camera that I planned on bringing with me...these devices come with an AC adapter, but how do I properly use and convert the local electrical voltage source?

Thanks.

The AC adapters for most laptops are rated 100-240VAC 50-60Hz.  You can buy a plug adapter kit that will allow you to mate your plug to almost any International outlet.  I bought mine at Wal-Mart.  Check the rating on your AC adapter, you should have no problem with the laptop.

Thank you, Texas Farang.
You are correct...I have confirmed that my voltage converter for my laptop is rated for input of 100 to 240 volts and 50/60 Hz.  All I need is the plug adapter and I will be good to go.  Appreciate the advice.
Ciao!

I live in Taiwan, and want to buy a digital camera for a friend in Thailand.  Prices aren't that good here, and the better ones are for "gray" imports, whose warranty may be questionable in Thailand.  All in all, I suspect prices are fairly similar to Thailand.

So where is the best place to buy a digicam in BKK?  Panthip Plaza?  Are there any specialist discount photoshops around (in Taiwan, they cluster around a single neighborhood)?

QP:
Besides Panthip, you can try MBK or Fortune Town. At Fortune Hotel there is a dedicated camera shop located at the basement.  And at MBK there are 2-3 camera shops too.

If you have the time, you might want to shop around and check the prices for the best bargain.
