Somebody mentioned Jackies. I went in here on the recommendation of the bar girl I was with and the fact that the Indian chap was in the same bar as me playing pool. She was good friends with him so I took her word for it he was good as opposed to blindly picking someone else. Well the suit took around 5 days to make and I had two fittings. Everything seem professionally done and I am happy with the results (apart from the fact that I wish I had taken my time to think what I really wanted and not go for jet black.) Think I paid more than you should have done but then again I am pretty much sure you get what you pay for. Pay $50 for 50 shirts, suits etc and you get rubbish. Total cost was 11,000 baht for 1 jacket, 2 pairs of trousers, 3 shirts, and 2 ties. Happy with what I got. Sonofsam2

Is there anybody on this board who really has the knowledge to point me in the right direction for high quality suits and shirts? The majority of the posters here seem to have no idea or just copy what the tailor is telling them. My experience is generally not very good. Craftmanship is at best mediocre and unless you really know what you are doing, you will end up with inferior fabrics. The cheapest ones made in China and some in Thailand. There really are not many tailors that have imported high quality fabrics. Have you ever checked out a sweatshop where the sew your suit together? Go and check! The measure taking in the shop is largely a show, as the guys who do the sewing, mostly use "molds'. I have tried many shops and have not yet found one that delivers good quality for a good price. By the way; I have been living here for the past 4.5 years and wear suits to the office. Try the Central department store. They have a new brand of shirts from "The Savile Row" company. Material is really nice and the price is reasonable (THB 1,600). The only problem is the sizes. ( for me OK, but for others maybe not). I would really like to receive a recommendation from someone who is either in the textile/tailoring industry or anyone who feels he really knows what he is talking about. Thanks.

Well, you seem to be pretty much of an expert on this subject already. I can only talk about the service I have received (that I am satisfied with), the quality of the fabric (which has been solid, lasting, and imported), the fit (which is excellent and comfortable), as well as the quality of workmanship (solid double stitching, proper buttons of mother of pearl, extra buttons). It's from Taj Mahal clothiers, right next to Nana. Works for me. Dr. von Quack!

@japio If you read my first post, I visited in October a lot of Tailors and the only one who has several of the quality brand-fabrics from Italy (Zegna, Loro Piana, Barberis Canonico) is "Narin couture" on Sukhumvit road. He is now displaying a "Zegna certified tailor" sign but for Zegna fabric and finish, you will pay your ass out and will have to wait several weeks before delivery. Narin was already recommended by Griffin last year too as the quality shop. Latrell

besides narin between soi 8 and 10 there is also 'embassy fashion' which is run by a british guy! they are on wirless road just before plaza athenee and conrad, usually recommended by all the major hotels and so are their prices. quality is the same as narin but much higher priced. got some shirts made with them for thb 2.500 each. i still stich to narin for quality and price. mind you both places aren't run by indians that might tell you something!

Just been to Siam Emporium in Siam Centre. Been there twice before and still wearing clothes from 4 years ago - although I'm sure the jacket's shrunk....!. Suit about 6500B, shirts 1200 tousers 1800B, although please don't quote me on prices, cos the brain can't really remember them accurately. They're on the same floor as the exit from the BTS. However, the boss told me they are moving in the next 6 months or so to a building on the corner of Suk and Soi 8.

With Songkran round the corner, is it still possible to get the tailors you guys have mentioned to get shirts and pants done say by Saturday with fitting done? Made 3 shirts at Lucky and Oscar Fashion, at the corner of Suk Soi 3/1 last December for 2400THB and the shirts were well made. But unfortunately, I called them and the shop will be closed for 4 days. I'll be arriving on Wed and leaving on Sat. Will appreciate it if you guys could provide information on any decent tailors you guys know that may be able to complete a talioring job for 3 pairs of pants and shirts. Cheers

After research on this forum and elsewhere, I've gotten the impression that the best tailor in Bangkok for high quality material and work is Narin on Sukhumvit road between Soi 8 and Soi 10. I was going to have a suit made there during my previous trip in January, but a sudden change in travel plans made that impossible. I'll be back in a week and wondering of Narin's couture still reigns supreme. Is it the place to invest 25,000B on a suit for business (very cheap by U.S. or European standards) ? Latrell gave a thorough and persuasive account of Narin earlier in this thread (appropriate for tailors), but that was quite awhile ago. Any change I should be aware of? I'm more interesting in finding a tailor with high-quality fabric/workmanship than getting a bargain.

I have used DINO on Sukhumwit for years now, the shop across from Robinson Dept. store and next to Sheraton Grande. They have a second shop on Sukhumvit closer to Nana MTR, but I use the small one. The Quality is good, honest people and never had a complaint. You can get cheaper packages from other but I rather pay a little bit more and be sure that the fabric is good. Suit from 7000 to 12.000 depending on fabric, trouser about 1200 to 1600. You will notice they actually make their clothes themselves, (2nd floor) whereas many other shops takes order and then have a central sewing shop where they get the work done.
