People write messages about things they would lke to know. If you dont have a constructive pont to convey, then "Shut yer trap", and move on.
As for me, I am a martial arts (various styles) student and teacher, and collect edged weapons from around the globe. Thailand will be no different.
And NO I dont plan on taking the knives in my carry on luggage as you may have assumed. Tucked away in the luggage always works.
We Canadians may be overly Laid back, but you may need some depresants or something my friend.
You give a bad name to Brits. And always remember, We did start out as a british collony.

SeaGhost, I don't know where you can get them, but instead of putting them into your checked baggage, ship them home by UPS or FedEx. Mark them as "Product Samples - Tableware/Scissors" or something innocuous like that, and throw in a few cheap knives and forks, one of each, which you can buy in any grocery store here. That way the box won't "JDLR" when they X-ray it and the butterfly knives should scan as scissors if they're not too ornate.

If You put the knives in Your suitcase, which You can not access during the flight, You face NO problem.
INSIDE the plane, the major sh_t hits the fan.
Before shooting ME, call at the airport and ask.
I have my folders and other blades (bought from BKK) in suitcase about every time I return.

What comes to other brands, You'll judge their quality but I'll say You will find some at least for practising.
