I have been to various places in BKK (panthip plaza, Kaosan rd) but I was fairly disappointed by the relatively "poor" selection of CD's over there.
Of course, music is a matter of personal taste, but nearly all the CD's available over here correspond to the anglo-american mainstream music scene.
E.g., no Latin music, no French music, no African music, nothing from the Caribics or from South America (except some very old pieces). As to the music, the southern hemisphere does not seem to exist.
After three weeks Thailand I am craving for some good music which is not the heavy guitar or the mainstream stuff from England or America. Do you know where to find it in BKK?

Thanks for the advise. I have been to CD Warehouse in Emporium. Not so many CDs from Arfrica/Latin America, but I have found some rare pieces which are difficult to get elsewhere. One Compilation from Brazil and one from Cabo Verde

In which qualtity are the mp3's? I am interested in mp3's which are encoded with at least or more than 192 kbit/s.
Most of the mp3's which are offered here on the streets (met a guy in Samui who has a huge collection) are in 128 kbit/s. This quality is sufficient for many pieces but often you'll notice the difference to those which are encoded with > 192 kbit/s.
I have quite a big collection of mp's in very good qualtity >192 kbit/s at home (Latin, Reggaeton, Zouk, Spanish, French, Cabo Verde, Brasil). Don't have them here but I can bring some CDs with me next time I come to LOS, possibly in September/October.
