I've read a lot about different malls and markets around BKK, but if I'm looking for this kind of stuff for my girl back home, where would you suggest I go based on my Majestic Suites location?
Does Siam Square have a big shopping center? That's right on the skytrain route right?

I got the feeling that Thailand is not the right place for buying imported perfumes and other cosmetics due to the import duty. Your better bet would be to buy them at the duty-free on your way out. But then again I may be wrong and would like some veterans to advise you. As for trinkets, a lot of good silver jewelery is available on the streets and I have always found this to be a good buy.

-take the skytrain to the final [National stadium] station, and walk back through TOKYU dept. store into MarBoonKrong [MBK] - everything there, you can get discounts, perfumes/trinkets mostly on 2nd floor, the perfumes are usually fake, but OK and cheap, PLUS : I doubt any other shopping mall in the WORLD, has the quality number of young females wandering around in the afternoons, as you see at MBK !! - thats worth a trip in itself

Hi there,
I would like to recommend a place close to the airport. They called this place DONG MUANG MARKET. You will find in this place a HUGE amount of perfumes and junky things for your girlfriend. All brand new perfumes and skin-care products at this place. These are not fake ones. How to go there? Just head to the airport. This palce is 2 minutes drive BEFORE the airport complex and on the same side of the road.
I forgot to mention that this place is alive coz all the flight-attendants use to sell these junky things from all over the world in here. Believe me, this is a nice choice. I go this place with my girlfriend once a month for shampoo, lotions, etc. CHEERS!!!!
