do any of the markets or shops in bangkok sell ornamental dolls? my nan collects them, with different dresses on..etc
are that of thing sold in bangkok at all?

Yes, most everywhere, you can get porcelain dolls. I'm sure the plastic ones are there, too.

An interesting place to try.......
Find your way to WTC ( world trade centre). Its a shoppoing centre but don't go in.
From the big open entrance, go through the taxi lines and CAREFULLY, cross the big broad road to some more shops. One of the basement stores has plenty of tradional Thai stuff.

it is quite close to your hotel. I think you said you are staying at Nana.
nearest BTS station is Siam square but out of peak times it is only a short taxi ride, maybe 35 baht, or about 25 minutes walk.
