From my searches, this looks like the heart of Bangkok's daily wholesale marketing. Does anyone have any experiences there? I like to get off the beaten path for my photography, and this looks like it in Bangkok. Any personal experiences would be helpful.

Klong Toey is hardly 'off the beaten path', but it's a great way to observe and photograph Thai daily life.
Plus it's in the centre of town, so easy to reach.
Also, Suan Chatuchak is a great opportunity for making photographs of colourful scenery. From people shopping for clothes to those looking for a new pet.
Go for it!

My insight:
Best time to go: early @ 0430-0500 hrs.
Parking: take some type of public transportation since parking is scarce.
Company: take along a TG for moral support.
Best Buys: shrimp and crabs.
Gag Factor: 8.5
