Go down to China town (yawarat), I forget the street name, you might be able to ask a taxi driver, but there are a bunch of small sois with about 20 or more music shops selling everything from high end fenders, gibsons, gretschs, custom made, to some great chinese knockoffs. Bought a nice chinese knockoff of gibson hollowbody for 5000 baht. Walk around the area and go into a lot of the shops before you buy, and yes they deal on the prices. I originally found this area by asking one of the Blues guitarists at Mojo's (a Thai) (he was also playing a hollow body and I was looking for one) where he got his, and he suggested this area.

That shop on the mezzanine of Pantip Plaza has some guitars. There is a high end guitar shop in World Trade Center. Forget what floor.

Looking for a decent Les Paul Classic knock off, preferably ESP standard /Edwards; Japan make model. I know there are many Chinese and Korean knock offs; LTDs etc. Wouldnt mind a 2-volume/2 tone with some good EMG pickups. Nice maple flamed top. Some Japan websites out there want around $850 includes USA shipping. Frickin Gibson's are over $2K new/ ebay past $1K let alone condition. Is there any middle prices Chinatown music stores that are worth a look ??

Hey ! the Big C, like Wal-Mart, cheaper electronic and clothes prices. Tell Thai GFs but Noooo!!! they get ripped at designer shops to market stalls for bra's, girls clothes etc I may venture down Chinatown way and have a look....many mid prices upscale gear isnt sold in the US becuase of lawsuits by Gibson and Fender/ constraint of trade issues......but I aint paying $2g's Japans luthers make good models. ESP/Edwards nice brand for 1/2 price, that is in Tokyo though.
